Progress and MAP Reports- January17th
Progress Reports and an updated MAP report will be sent home with students on January 17th. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you have any questions or concerns.
4th/5th Coed Intramural Basketball Championship- January 17th @ 5PM
Tonight our 4th/5th Grade Basketball Team will compete against the Graves Sailors at 5pm for the district Championship. Hope to see you there!

Inclement Weather/E-Learning Days
In the vent of a school closure for inclement weather or any other type of emergency, in most cases, students will engage in an E-Learning day. Please review the information below.
Winter is Here!
Just a reminder students will be outside for recess when the feel like temperature is 20 degrees or greater. Please send you students in proper winter weather attire.
Attendance Policy
Although our attendance rate has increased from last year, we are still averaging a below our goal if a 95% percentage rate. Please read the district attendance policy below.
Also, school begins at 7:50 and any student not in class by 7:55 will be considered tardy. Please do your best to have your child in school and on time.
Attendance Incentives
We are monitoring attendance daily, and rewarding students who are present and on time. Our monthly raffle incentive for January is 2 tickets to Fleetwood Rolling Rink in Summit.

Walker Celebrations
Walker Student Council BOE Presentation
Many members of the Walker Student Council presented to the School Board of Education on Tuesday. With the support of Mrs. Manzke, these students outlined all the amazing service projects they have been doing. Great job student council!
PBIS Celebration and Expectation Refresher
On January 9th, students were retaught the behavior expectations across the school. To celebrate their hard work and commitment, we had a minute to win it contest. Both students and staff had an amazing time!
BARK Bashes
Every Monday, we celebrate the successes of our students both academically and behaviorally.
We also celebrate those students that are making academic growth in school. Below are the students who received certificates from Lexia or X-tra Math.
Curricular Corner
Walker Library Reading Contest
Through library, students can compete in reading contest.
Rules:
Students must read a minimum of 20 minutes per day for 2 weeks. Please turn in the completed log into the library on January 31st to be entered into drawing to win 2 Dog Man Movie Tickets!
Logs will be distributed in library class.
Notes from the Nurse
Hello Walker families! Please take a look for some important updates.
First and foremost, cold and flu season are here. Please make sure your student is appropriately dressed for the weather (coat and sweater) as students go outside for recess. Refer to the attached letter of when to keep your student home.
Next, Dental Day at Walker is February 20th. Sign up today for a free dental exam that fulfills the kindergarten, second and sixth grade registration requirement. If your student is currently in first and fifth grade, sign up now to get ahead for the next school year. Return the permission form or use the QR code that is attached.
Lastly, Lyons Township High School is co-hosting a Mental Health and Wellness Presentation and resource fair on mental health and wellness featuring Dr. John Duffy on January 22 from 6:30-8:00 PM at the North Campus Reber Center. This event will provide valuable insights into mental health conditions impacting kids and adults, including when and how to seek support, building emotional resilience, and strategies for managing stress, anxiety, and depression. Representatives from local organizations such as The Loft at 8 Corners, NAMI Metro Suburban, Pillars Community Health, and UChicago Advent Health will be present to share resources. Please utilize student drop of line if dropping off by vehicle. Breakfast begins at 7:30 am. Please enter through door 1.
Dismissal
Students will be dismissed at 2:50 each day.
Kindergarten-1st- New office area.
2nd-3rd- Door 1
4th-5th Grade will exit from door 5 (adjacent to playground)
