Welcome to the St. Nick's Youth Ministry Weekly Update
CLEAN-UP DAY, MAY 11TH
This weekend our Church Family will gather together for Clean-Up Day at St. Nick's!
This is not only a time to care for our church and it's surroundings, but for fellowship with the parishioners of our church as we come together to share in the faith and joy we receive at St. Nick's and in our parish community.
For our oldest to our youngest parishioners, there are ways to participate in this act of service.
We hope your family will join us this Saturday!
ANNOUNCEMENTS
SNYM SUMMER SUNDAYS
The Youth Room will be open on specified Sundays this Summer for Free Time and Socializing.
Youth & Teens entering grades 7-12 in Fall 2024 are welcome to attend.
The next Summer Sunday will be on May 19th, 4-6pm in the Youth Room.
SNYM NEWS THIS SUMMER
As we all know Summers in Alaska are fleeting and we all have lots of plans, often before it even begins, and that's just one of the things that makes our summers amazing!
With that, we will not have SNYM events as frequently, which means most of this summer we will not have weekly content to share in our newsletter.
For now, my plan is to publish our newsletter BI-WEEKLY.
If we have more content than usual, I will add in an extra newsletter for one week.
If there is a time where we have a more extended break (ex: the 2 weeks of Summer Oratory), we may only have one newsletter for the month.
No matter which scenario we encounter, I will continue to share SNYM information & updates as they occur throughout the Summer. -Beth
FIRST FRIDAYS
FRIDAY, MAY 3RD
Last week we had 16 Youth & Teens come together for another fun FIRST FRIDAY!
See all of the First Friday Fun in the video below.
We began with a SURPRISE when Deacon Ron and Mrs. Betsy joined us for a First Friday Facetime! Before they had to go, Deacon said grace for us and then we shared a nice dinner together.
Next the Youth & Teens got to work on their service project for May. They broke up into groups to decorate the doors of the classrooms in honor of Teacher Appreciation. Each group chose a theme and made the doors beautiful as a Thank You to all of our Religious Education cathecists.
Then they all headed outside to play until the mosquitoes became unbearable, and then they came back in for time together until parents arrived. It was a great night for all of us!
Special thanks to Mrs. Shannon & Mr. Rob for joining us!
MIDDLE SCHOOL/ EDGE GROUP
RECAP FOR MAY 5
We began our final class of the year with everyone visiting and then we joined the other RE classes for the Mary Procession. It touched my heart knowing some of those students placing their flowers for Mary will be joining the EDGE class next year, while others will no longer be with us. I pray we will see many of you at HSYG!
Next, we took yummy Ice Cream Treats (thanks Ms. Heather!) to enjoy together in the Youth Room.
And, we got to recognize one more student who returned their completed worksheet to receive a token for Bristol's Shaved Ice!
We finished class with hugs and photos and well wishes and a final prayer with Miss Elizabeth. See video below.
Have a great summer EDGE!
HIGH SCHOOL/ YOUTH GROUP
RECAP FOR MAY 5
First, I want to thank all of the Teens & Parents for their understanding and flexibility with our last minute change of plans this past weekend. Thanks to all of you, we were able to have a wonderful afternoon together, celebrating HSYG! See video below.
We began in the Youth Room then set off on a lovely walk to North Pole! Everyone had voted and chose Subway & Mochalicious for their treats & snacks. We spent a little while playing at the North Pole Elementary playground, then walked back to St. Nick's together.
There were lessons learned such as plan less stops to have more play time together, and we definitely want to do this again soon! See video below.
Special thanks to Mrs. Shannon, Jack's Dad, and Clay for joining us!
LOOKING FORWARD
