Principal's Message
Happy Sunday!
Good News!
As you may recall, our school is seeking to earn a designation as a "Model Continuation High School". In September of this year we described our program to the State in a 10 page report. The report detailed the helpful and innovative practices that we use to help our students be succssful. The State liked our report and sent a team to our school to check out if everything we wrote about was actually happening.
After two days (this past Tuesday & Wednesday) of talking with students, staff, parents, community members and visiting classrooms, the Visiting Team met with our staff after school (see the photo below). They let us know that they will be recommending to the State that our school be designated as a "Model" continuation high school. This is great news! Technically, the team can only recommend (not actually award) the "model" status, as the California Department of Education (CDE) is the only one that can do that! And we'll know CDE's FINAL determination in January! But...very, very few recommendations from Visiting Teams are rejected by CDE...so...WE ARE FEELING GOOD!
I want to thank our families and community members who helped us this past week by coming to the school and talking with our visitors about Rancho Vista! Your time was VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!
Overall, I think it's good for parents and guardians to know that your children are in good hands at Rancho Vista High School. There are a LOT OF GREAT THINGS HAPPENING HERE! And all the work is done to help your students feel comfortable in their new school, have a better chance of learning the material in each subject area, passing all their classes, and earning a diploma. That's what it's all about.
When we get the "final" word from Sacramento about this "model" school designation we'll let you know!!
End of the Quarter
We have TWO WEEKS LEFT in Quarter 2! The end of the quarter is December 20th! We, of course, are encouraging all students to take advantage of the time that's left to:
-Speak with their teachers about their grades
-Find out if they're missing any assignments
-Complete and turn those assignments in
-Take (or re-take) tests that have been missed
-Re-check with teachers that everything is complete
If you have any questions about your student's progress in a particular class please contact the teacher for more information! We are almost at the end and the time is now to get everything completed and turned in!
Thanks--and have a great week everyone!!

Video Doorbell
Tips to Using the Video Doorbell
a) hold your ID card 2-3 inches from the screen
b) hold it steady so we can see it
c) Remember that there's a time lag...Hold the card there until you hear us buzz you in!
REMINDER ALL STUDENTS NEED A SCHOOL ID
Students PLEASE take a picture of your Student ID with your cell phone!
This is so you will always have a copy in case you forget to bring it!
Students: If you come to the front door of the school and don't have a school ID, we'll be asking for you to get one as soon as you enter the school! It only takes a few minutes!! That will make it easier each time you need to be "buzzed in" through the video doorbell system!
FOOD DELIVERY
Students may NOT order food to be delivered to school through Grub Hub, Door Dash, Uber Eats or any food delivery. If a parent brings food in, it can only be for their student and it must be left with the front office and the student may pick it up during lunch time only.
