Monthly Birthday Bash Celebration
🎂 December 20th🎈
At Metropolitan Arts Academy, we love celebrating our students' birthdays while keeping a focused learning environment. To balance this, we host a monthly Birthday Bash for all students with birthdays that month. Here are the key guidelines:
Parent Volunteers:
- Parents can join the Birthday Bash if arranged with the classroom teacher.
- An approved background check is required, so please complete this in advance.
Snack Food Items Only:
- Only snack foods are allowed; full meals (e.g., pizza) are not permitted.
- We encourage healthy options and remind you that our school is peanut-free.
Delivery of Snack Items:
- Please deliver snacks to the main office by 10:00 a.m. on the day of the celebration for efficient organization.
Packaging Requirements:
- All food must be in sealed store packaging, with ingredients and expiration dates visible.
Gifts and Decorations:
- Large balloons, flowers, and gifts cannot be sent, as we cannot interrupt learning for deliveries.
Personal Birthday Party Invitations:
- Invitations for personal parties must be distributed before or after school, off school premises. We cannot print or distribute personal information.
By following these guidelines, we can ensure a safe and enjoyable Birthday Bash for everyone. Thank you for your support!
For any questions, please contact the school office.
⛄Winter Break⛄
Winter break is here! There will be no school from December 23rd to January 6th. Classes will resume on Tuesday, January 7th. The office will be closed from December 23rd to January 3rd and will reopen on Monday, January 6th. We hope everyone stays warm and enjoys the break!
Wish List Request: (Volunteer Opportunity)
One way to earn your volunteer hours is to contribute supplies to our school's wish list. Right now, the top of our list is snacks for our upcoming "Moana Jr." rehearsals that start next week. Snacks must be peanut free. Please plan on snacks that serve 40 cast members and helpers.
For each $20.00 spent, you can earn 1 hour of volunteer time. Once you have purchased and dropped these off to the main office, you can complete the form below to receive your volunteer hours. Remember, as a part of the application process, all families agree to complete a minimum of 8 volunteer hours each year to support our growing community.

Attendance and Absence Reporting Policy
Students enrolled in Metropolitan Arts Academy are required to attend classes, unless excused for good reason in accordance with Colorado Compulsory Attendance Law and approved by the principal. Regular school attendance and being on time is essential for the student to attain the maximum benefit from school. Metropolitan Arts Academy allows 8 absences per school year. Families are required to sign an attendance contract agreeing to a maximum of 8 days of absence per year. Parents make notification of an absence to the school but only the school Principal or his/her designee may excuse the absence. All excusals are determined by the school Principal after notification by parents is given to the school.
Definitions and Consequences for Absences
Absences: are defined as the non-attendance of the student for a period of time longer than one hour during the school day.
Excused Absences: The principal shall grant a maximum of 8 absences in compliance with Compulsory Attendance Law for the following reasons:
● Absences caused by illness, injury, or physical, mental and/or emotional disability, or non-emergency medical/dental appointments.
● Religious appointments
● Family emergencies or hardships
● Absence required by a legal authority
● Family vacations and educational experiences not sponsored by the district need to be pre-arranged with the office one week prior to the absence.
● All absences may not exceed 8 total for the school year 8
● Excusals of absences are at the discretion of the school principal or his/her designee after notification of the absence has been given to the school.
Unexcused Absences: are absences for reasons other than those listed under Excused Absences. Consequences: The parents/guardian will receive a letter from the school after the student has reached 5 absences, whether excused or not. The school social worker or District Attendance Manager may visit the home if necessary. A parent meeting will be scheduled at 8 absences. More than 8 absences may result in the denial of admission or discontinued admission. “Colorado Law (CRS 22-33-104) requires every child who has attained the age of six years and is under the age of sixteen to attend public school for at least one thousand and fifty six hours if a secondary school pupil or nine hundred sixty-eight hours if an elementary school pupil during each school year.” To help keep the school informed, it is the parent’s responsibility to notify the school office about the students’ absences by the start of the school day. The attendance phone line is available 24 hours a day.
“Tardies” are Costly: When students come to school late, they miss out on the essential information and directions the teacher gives to set the stage for the day of learning. When parents/guardians allow their child to be tardy frequently, it subtly gives the child the message that promptness is not important and responsibility to be on time is not valued. Students need the message that school is important and you must be to school on time.
Registration
Registration opens on December 11th – it's right around the corner! Please take a moment to verify that all of your information is correct. If any updates are needed, you can log into your Parent Portal account to make the necessary changes. Alternatively, you can call the main office at 303-428-1884 for assistance.
