Overview

The LETRS Volume 2, Language Comprehension training units address each essential component of reading instruction and the foundational concepts that link these components. Units 5 - 8 focus specifically on oral language and vocabulary, understanding reading comprehension, text-driven comprehension instruction and the reading-writing connection.

All participants should plan to complete all of the work required (attend each end of unit face to face training, participation and assignments) to receive the full benefit of the training and a certificate of completion.

Prerequisites

Participants Must Have the Following Completed:

  • LETRS Volume 1 Training completed.
  • Contact LETRS rep: Laura Martin, Laura.Martin@lexialearning.com or 518-469-7135, to get the Volume 2 License and Manual ordered asap.
  • Prior to attending the End of the Unit Training you MUST complete the LETRS Online module from Lexia for that Unit. This is the same requirement regardless if you are taking it for credit or as a "participant only".

Logistics

This is a four-day, in-person class at our Pocahontas PLAEA Office, 500 NE 6th St., Pocahontas, Iowa


Dates:

  • Jan 30, 2025 - Unit 5
  • Feb 26, 2025 - Unit 6
  • Mar 31, 2025 - Unit 7
  • Apr 24, 2025 - Unit 8


Time:

  • 9:00am - 3:00pm


Cost:

  • PLAEA Costs: $800 total ($200 per participant - per Units 5-8. Payable to PLAEA)
  • Lexia LETRS Costs: $399 materials bundle with a 1 year online License and manual (payable to Lexia directly)
