Class of 2024 "Top Ten"
Last Thursday we celebrated our Top 10 Seniors in the Class of 2024! Students and their families had the chance to enjoy a delicious breakfast together before receiving their Top 10 awards. Congratulations Top 10, we are so proud of you all for working so hard these past four years!
NGSA Science Test May 15th (All Juniors)
NGSA Science Testing at SHS May 15th (Juniors)
On May 15th ALL 11th Grade Students will take the NGSA Science Test. Below are some important points for juniors.
As teachers, student progress from 8th grade to 11th helps us make decisions about what we are teaching and how. This is valuable because it is a way for us to improve what we are doing in our classes and down the road will help students be more successful.
This information helps support initiatives that science teachers and administration may request to add to our school curriculum.
This is a chance for each student to apply knowledge and skills to the state test and compare themselves to other students across the state. It should be a source of pride.
All of the teachers and administrators work hard to provide instruction, and all take this test very seriously so we ask that students return the favor to their teachers.
NGSA Achievement Levels and Performance
Accountability for our RIDE Report Card rating will include measures for science proficiency and science assessment participation using the science assessment data from previous years.
LEA or school performance "below mastery" for a specific science discipline may be an area for growth – LEA or school performance "at/near mastery" or "above mastery" are areas of strength
Over time, assessing overall school and district performance in science can find performance trends at each grade level
Testing Reminders
Below are some important reminders for testing
All testers should bring a fully charged chromebook and a charger
All students should bring a set of headphones/earbuds. We have headphones for students who may not have them. Bluetooth headsets are not allowed
Students should arrive at school on time, well-rested, and should also eat a good breakfast
Students will be given short breaks throughout the day however, the test will take about four hours to complete
Students should not bring backpacks, cell phones, personal electronic devices, or smart watches into the testing classroom
STUDENTS SHOULD TRY THEIR BEST!
Physical Training for Active Careers
The completion of the nutrition unit in our Physical Training for Active Careers class involved students crafting their own protein smoothies. This emphasized the importance of essential nutrient consumption and the timing of protein intake post-exercise.

FAFSA Update *** Seniors!!
Dear Scituate High School Team,
We are excited to share the latest FAFSA update with you! As of the FAFSA data pull on 4/19/2024, Scituate High School has a 45.1% FAFSA completion rate! The federal data currently shows that your school has 41 FAFSAs and you are only 23 students away from reaching your goal of 70% completion. You can find updated FAFSA completion data as well as other resources on the FAFSA Dashboard.
The College Planning Center is a great resource to support your students with completing their FAFSA!
Please share these registration links widely with your networks!
Remind your students that it is not too late to complete the FAFSA! The FAFSA is required for 2 and 4 year institutions, the RI Promise (2 years free at CCRI!), and can also help students attending some trade schools!
If you are working with undocumented students, they also have an opportunity to fill out the Alternative Aid application! Click here for the application in English and Spanish.
If you need any additional support, please reach out to one of our two FAFSA ambassadors: Kyleen Carpenter kcarpenter@blackstoneacademy.org and/or Marlene Martinez martinezm@cfschools.net
