Bulldog Nation Insider- 9/23/24
Our weekly newsletter with important information!
Principal's Corner
Happy Monday Bulldog Nation Families,
Thank you for the trust you place in us each day Bulldog Nation Families. We recognize that your children are your most precious possessions, and we don't take that responsibility lightly as you bring them to school each day. Especially with all that is going on in the world of social media and society.
Talking about social media, our PTSO is putting on a special event on Wednesday, October 16th for parents & guardians to support them in cyber safety and in monitoring their kids social media. It is an educational & support night. There will be dinner for those who attend. It will start at 6PM in the Library with a couple short presentations, and then will shift to breakout sessions for help with iPads, Android Devices, and Apple Devices. Please make this a priority if you are not sure how to "inspect what you expect" in the world of your child's social media.
Finally, we begin Benchmark testing this week. On Tuesday our students will be taking the English Language Arts (ELA) benchmark test and on Thursday they will take the Math benchmark. Please make sure that students come prepared with their iPad fully charged, ready to do their best on the test. We are aware of an issue with iPads not connecting to Wi-Fi at home, and we are working to get that fixed. Thank you for your support!
Yours in the service of education,
Luke van Schie, Principal

Student Code of Conduct Corner
As we navigate this world of social media, I wanted to highlight the section of TUSD's Student Code of Conduct that applies to School Interruption. While social media is often used at home, what students post, or say online, can impact the school day. Please encourage your child to refrain from saying or posting things that would place another student in apprehension of harm. It is a level 4 violation. See TUSD's Student Code of Conduct for more information on the Levels and their Consequences here.

Mansfeld STEM+ Highlights
Elevate Your Game!
Mansfeld is Elevating our Game this year with construction and updates to our wonderful campus! The original parts of the building were constructed in 1930, we are reaching our 100 year birthday! This last week started the demolition of our old AC units in preparation for new ones! Also, through bond monies we are looking forward to a wide variety of facility updates. There is so much great STEM in construction! This year we are taking some students on a field trip to the Southern Arizona Construction and Careers Day. There are many wonderful STEM careers to learn about!
Music in Space and Around the World
Ms. Davidson's classes learned today about an amazing STEM event! American space operations engineer Sarah Gillis, age 30, became the first human to play the violin in space on Friday (September 13, 2024), when she performed John Williams' "Rey’s Theme" (from Star Wars: The Force Awakens) while in orbit aboard the Crew Dragon spacecraft for the private crewed Polaris Dawn spaceflight by SpaceX.
