News
Dear Families,
I hope you have all had a restful spring break and that you are refreshed and ready to finish the academic year strong! We look forward to welcoming everyone back tomorrow!
As we leave spring break behind, we must now focus on these last 7 weeks of school and finish strong!
The closer we get to the end of the year, the more intense and meticulous all of us must become in our practice and preparation. Our students and staff need to aim to make every minute of class time meaningful. No wasted opportunities! As we prepare for these last few weeks, I challenge our students & staff to look at these days as an opportunity to be successful and make an impact. I challenge them to celebrate the time remaining and avoid the countdown! Make it a point to be fully present daily. It makes all the difference!
The work students put in studying, working on homework, getting extra tutoring, working at their jobs, playing sports, and applying for scholarships - MATTERS. The work teachers put into their lesson plans, working with students, helping them understand the curriculum, and getting to know them - MATTERS! It all matters on the easy days, but it especially matters on the more difficult ones! Teamwork makes the dream work, and we are all in this together. Between our staff, students, and families we can all work together to ensure we finish this school year strong!
Let’s make the rest of the school year amazing! The world is waiting for your greatness!

💜 Month of the Military Child
April marks the Month of the Military Child when we pay tribute to the resilience and tenacity of our military children who did not make the choice to serve but live each day supporting their brave parents. Our schools have been busy planning many events for the Month of the Military Child.
Approximately 11,000 students in Nevada are members of military-connected families. Our military children face unique challenges related to military transitions and parental deployments.
Military children often change schools up to nine times between the start of kindergarten and high school graduation. With each move, they grapple with difficult goodbyes and the challenge of making new friends. Although life in a military family can include exploring new places and exposure to other cultures and customs, it can also bring frustration and loneliness.
During the Month of the Military Child, we show our appreciation for the commitment and service of military children in shouldering these challenges, and we recognize the stressors on military children brought about by the unique demands of their parents’ military life. The strength of our Armed Forces comes not just from those who wear the uniform but from their families, who also serve on behalf of our country.
Observing the Month of the Military Child demonstrates our support for military children who make daily sacrifices so their parents can keep us safe. Our military-connected children are strong and resilient, and we must match their strengths with a commitment to provide them with our full love and support.
Please join us in celebrating and serving them as well as they have served us! #MonthoftheMilitaryChild #MIC3Compact #purpleup4militarykids

Nevada Works will be at CCHS THIS WEEK!
April 9th & 10th
Nevada Works is a 14,000,00 program out of the Governor's office. The grant will place our students in a fast-track 90-day trade school. Then the student will be placed right into a high-wage, high-need employment. This grant pays for everything the student needs during the training. We have numerous student interests in the CDL, electronic, fiber optic, health, and many more of the programs. Stay tuned. I will provide data as to what our students sign up for.
We currently have 37 students signed up to meet with the Nevada Works representative. If you are interested in signing up go see Dr. Sue Segura in room M-1 or email seguras@churchillcsd.com

Meningococcal vaccine (MCV4) REQUIRED BEFORE 12th Grade!
In 2020 Nevada Legislature passed a law that requires students who will be an incoming senior, to have the meningococcal vaccine (MCV4) BEFORE they can start school in the fall. This means that every single current 11th grader has to have this vaccine before they can start 12th grade. This does not apply to any other grade.
Parents can get this vaccine (MCV4) at their doctor's office, pharmacy, or if you don't have insurance or if you have Medicaid, you can get the vaccine from The Central Nevada Health District - call 775-867-8181 for an appointment.
Once your child receives the vaccine, please notify CCHS school nurse Adonna Crowley at crowleya@churchillcsd.com or call her at 775-423-2181 ext. 4124 with the date the vaccine was given. For more information please contact Adonna, or Chief Health Nurse Chassity Mills at 775-423-3463 x 2003.

Greenwave Parent Academy
Informational videos provide parents and guardians with the tools and information that will allow them to support the academic success of their students.
Every student that has a parent or guardian successfully complete the questionnaire with 8 or more correct answers will receive 5 Gerka Bucks that will not expire until the end of the year. Students can have a total of 2 parents or guardians that are identified on Infinite Campus complete the questionnaire for a total of 10 Gerka Bucks.
IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR 6th GRADE FAMILIES
Dear Parents/Guardians of 6th graders,
All 6th graders must receive the MCV4 (meningococcal) immunization and the Tdap immunization before the start of 7th grade on 12 August 2024. Children will not be allowed to begin 7th grade until there is proof of the immunization being completed.
Parents are encouraged to review their child's shot record and make arrangements with their health care provider for vaccination prior to the busy 'Back to School' season.
Because of the volume of students requiring immunization appointments, you may find it difficult to get an appointment for immunizations over the summer. For those who are uninsured, underinsured, on Medicaid or American Indian/Alaskan Native, you can make an appointment with the Central Nevada Health District community health nurse at (775) 867-8181. You can also get these vaccines from a local pharmacy – just make sure they take your insurance and that they administer the correct vaccines. Listen for announcements about vaccine clinics and ‘back to school’ vaccine clinics.
