WEEKLY MESSAGE
Hello Willard Families,
I hope you are enjoying your long weekend. While we had a quiet week in terms of school-wide events, our classrooms have been far from quiet. Our wonderful teachers always take advantage of the time to engage our students in learning (and some celebrations, too!) See below for just a small sample of what our students have been up to in their classrooms! Great work, Wildcats!
Mrs. Penny's class having a rockin' good time on Valentine's Day!
Mrs. Kaiteris' and Ms. Cahir's class were treated to a visit from the Pasadena Fire Department as a part of their IB Jobs Unit. Students learned all about fire safety and the typical duties for firefighters. They were also given a tour of the the fire truck and the equipment/gear used.
Mrs. DeGroof's class published their own book for their IB Unit on Communities. The class named their community "Rustyland" after their favorite classroom volunteer!
NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS
An Important Message from our Health Office
This is a notification from the health office that we have had a rise in Conjunctivitis/Pinkeye cases at Willard at all grade levels. Conjunctivitis is an inflammation or infection of the conjunctiva (the inside lining of the eyelids.)
Symptoms of Conjunctivitis/Pink Eye are redness, discharge, tearing, itching, and irritation. The discharge occasionally causes the eyelids to stick together, especially after sleeping. The affected person usually complains of feeling sand or dirt or burning in the eyes and may complain of sensitivity to light. The infection is commonly caused by bacteria or viruses.
Pinkeye is contagious and easily spreads from person to person. If your child is experiencing any of the above symptoms, we advise that you keep them home and have them see their health care provider. Please feel free to contact our Health Office if you have any questions or concerns.
