Reminder ELA & Math Finals Count for MMS SARC to replace CAASPP Data
Dear TVUSD Teachers,
As previously communicated in Dr. McClay’s Community Update on April 30, all school districts have been granted flexibility from the state to use our Final District Benchmark Assessment at each grade level in lieu of the CAASPP Summative Assessments for English Language Arts and Mathematics. However, due to the nature of the kind of data that the state requires, it will be necessary to give your final in Edulastic (unless giving a CAASPP IAB), and record the grade on the final in the gradebook in IC.
As an additional piece of flexibility, teachers can weigh this assessment anywhere from 0% to 5% of a student’s final grade. If you need assistance and/or training please reach out to your TOSAs Michele Loza mloza@tvusd.us for ELA and Dr. William Malone wmalone@tvusd.us for Math or check their Drop In Tech Help Schedule.
Special Notes for high school juniors who are currently enrolled in an ELA or math course that does not normally administer a district final assessment:
All high school juniors in an advanced placement or International Baccalaureate English course must take the English 11 final assessment in Edulastic. A Q&A session has been set for Monday 5/17 (see schedule for link) at 2:00 or you can choose another time on the Drop In Tech Help Schedule.
All high school juniors in a math course lateral to or beyond Algebra II in TVUSD’s math pathway must take the Algebra II final assessment in Edulastic. A Q&A session has been set for Monday 5/17 (see schedule for link) at 10:00 or you can choose another time on the Drop In Tech Help Schedule.
All high school juniors in a Math 90 or consumer math course must take the Algebra I final assessment in Edulastic. A Q&A session has been set for Monday 5/17 (see schedule for link) at 2:00 or you can choose another time on the Drop In Tech Help Schedule.
As the final assessment is replacing the CAASPP, we need to provide a common data format that has the ability to be disaggregated. Therefore the final assessment must be administered as it was created in Edulastic without any changes or additions and adhere to the testing window agreed upon by your subject area Design Team.
Thank you,
Joe Balleweg
