From the Desk of Principal Swearingen
Dear Eickenroht Parents,
Our Grandparents' Day breakfast was a huge success. We had so many grandparents come and enjoy time with their grandchild while eating some awesome biscuits and gravy from Cracker Barrel. If you were able to make it, thank you so much for supporting your grandchildren and Eickenroht by attending.
Today we have our first Coffee Talk and Volunteer/Parent Compact Meeting at 9 am in room 204. I hope that you can make it. Thursday, September 12th is our Title 1 meeting and Open House. Please plan to be here and in your child's classroom by 5:30. Open House will follow the Title 1 meeting.
Student attendance has been something to celebrate. The average daily attendance has been over 95% since school started. Please continue to make sure you bring your child/children to school every day and on time.
One thing we are focusing on this year is writing across the content. Teachers are encouraging writing in complete sentences when students are answering questions or retelling the steps they took to solve a math equation. You can help us from home as well. When talking with your child/children, encourage them to speak and answer in complete sentences. When you read with your child, have them write down their response to some questions you ask them about the story. Just 15 to 20 minutes a night of reading and responding in writing will have a huge impact on your child's success.
Last week tutorial letters went home to students in grades 3-5. We have not had very many returned. Please know that if your child received a letter, he or she was selected and tutoring will be differentiated to meet his or her needs. If you have not returned the letter, please do so today.
My weeks are scheduled so that the majority of my time is in the classrooms observing instruction. If you come to campus to meet with me and do not have an appointment, you may be asked to complete a form and I will call you within 24 hours. If I do have an available time slot to meet with you, my secretary will schedule the meeting. This may mean you have to wait or return at a later time. If you would like to email me please feel free to do so at sberlitz@springisd,org.
Have a fantastic week!
Sincerely,
Shanna Swearingen

Mrs. Croce - Art Teacher
Mrs. Croce has been in Music Education at the Elementary level in Title 1 schools for 10 years. She also works another job at the Hobby Center for Performing Arts Center downtown during her free time. She loves to play with her goofy dog and husband when she is at home. She goes camping and hiking during school breaks and enjoys performing on her flute for weddings and other special events outside of school.
We are so excited to have Mrs. Croce join our FAME (Fine Arts Magnifying Education) team. Her music room is calm and inviting with stars on her ceiling and soft music playing as the students enter. The students love that she sings to them as they enter the room and as they exit. We are looking forward to the programs she has planned for this year.
Welcome to Eickenroht Mrs. Croce!

Math Instructional Specialist
Mrs. Farnell is starting her 12th year in education as we begin the 2024-2025 school year. She enjoys fishing with her family and can get super competitive when she plays the original Super Mario Brothers. She believes Eickenroht is a place where you join a school for an important cause and stay because you know the students need you to advocate for them. It is a place where you bring your best self everyday because little people are counting on you to show them they are more capable than they ever knew.
