Respetuosamente,
Lisa Dailey
Directora orgullosa del HMS
Message From The Principal
Dear Hazelbrook Families,
This was a hard week, not only for our staff but also for so many of our students. Mr. Riess was such an incredible teacher who served this community for nearly 40 years. I was so impressed with the way our students came together to grieve with one another and to celebrate his amazing spirit. They created cards, posters, flowers, and showed so much care, love, and support for our PE/Health teachers. We have such compassionate kids!
With the help of a strong flight team, we were able to console and care for so many students, filling 3 rooms! This alone is a testament to Mr. Riess’ character and the positive impact he had on our students.
If your child(ren) needs additional grief counseling, please do not hesitate to reach out to their counselors who will continue to check in with them.
Thank you for your continued support and I hope you have a good weekend.
Respectfully,
Lisa Dailey

Dear Community,
The FBI will host a presentation this month addressing an important safety issue for students.
What
- The FBI will hold a virtual presentation via Microsoft Teams.
- For families, students and parent-teacher organizations. (February 21 from 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.)
- There will be time for a Q&A at the end of each presentation.
Why
- The FBI’s goal is to help educators, parents, caregivers, teens, and young adults fully understand the dangers of financially motivated sextortion and to know there are options for those who need help.
- The FBI has seen a 20% increase in reports of financially motivated sextortion incidents targeting minors during a six-month period that ended in March 2023, compared to the previous year.
- The scam is the latest iteration of sextortion where offenders deceive and manipulate victims to create sexually explicit material for extortion purposes.
- Minors and young adults caught in this trap often feel isolated, embarrassed and cornered with seemingly no way out. In some cases, victims have turned to self-harm and even suicide.
Contact
- For more information, contact Renee Bailey, Community Outreach Specialist with the FBI Portland Field Office.

Help Bridge the Gaps
"Help Bridge the Gaps" with a donation to the Foundation for Tigard Tualatin Schools' annual Fund Drive. Your gift funds the School Grants that are annually awarded to our 17 schools, to fund vital part-time teaching staff that the state budget can't afford. These part-time teachers bridge gaps when they facilitate math & reading small groups, after school activities, language assistance, mental health support, and so much more! Find out more and donate at http://tinyurl.com/bridgethegaps2024.
Volunteer at The Foundation's Phone Outreach
Every year, The Foundation hosts a phone bank to reach out to current donors and make giving quick and easy. This community-focused event takes great care of the volunteers, with dinner, training, scripts, raffle prizes, and fun provided! One past volunteer raved, "One of my fave volunteer gigs for our schools! And I really don’t like calling people." Can you join us on Wed, Feb. 28 or Thurs, Feb. 29 for dinner & training (5:30-6pm), and calling (6-8:30pm)? Sign up here: http://tinyurl.com/phonebank2024
