Michigan Schools Vocal Music Association State Festival
On May 7th, seventh and eighth grade choir members sang at Michigan Schools Vocal Music Association State Festival at Jack Miller Auditorium, Hope College. Although they went for a workshop and were not rated, they qualified to go by receiving a “1” for their performance at MSVMA Regional Festival and a perfect score in sight singing.

Former teacher Sue (Brewer) Johnson and her husband Michael spoke to Andrea Brown's Sociology class from Penang, Malaysia on May 9th. The pair Zoomed into the classroom for an engaging discussion about the tropical Malaysian culture, wildlife, and food. The class enjoyed the images and videos Sue prepared for them, sharing lots of laughs when they told stories of how devious monkeys can be there. Sue says hello to her Wildcat family!

Jessica Fleser, Wayland alumni (class of 2010) spoke to Andrea Brown's Sociology class on May 10th about living in Vienna, Austria for two year for her graduate degree. While there she was able to travel to 12 other countries. She shared information with the students about the language, food and drink, architecture, history, religion and holidays and art, music and the creativity of the various cultures she experienced. Jessica's message centered around the idea that the images you see on the screen while in school are real, you can go explore the world. She recalled painting a picture of a street in Venice while in Mr. Gundersen's art class and then being able to find that exact street while she was in the floating city years later. It brought tears to her eyes to stand in front of the real buildings.
