Mr. Goetz's Corner
Dear Falcon Families,
This week, our students have been working hard on their NWEA reading tests, showing great focus and determination. Next week, they will be finishing up with their math assessments, and we couldn't be prouder of their efforts.
A big congratulations to Samantha Chavez for receiving the Excellence in Education Award from the Auburn Hills Chamber of Commerce! This award recognizes her outstanding hard work and leadership. Samantha also had the honor of selecting Mrs. Norton as the teacher who has inspired her most, which is such a wonderful tribute to the positive impact she’s had on our students. Keep up the great work, everyone!
Have a great weekend,
Mr. Goetz

Avondale Cheetahs
We have great news...the AVONDALE CHEETAHS team is back!! They are our Special Olympic Track and Field Team. This fantastic group of Avondale students and athletes (many current and former Deerfield Falcons) need our support. They are looking to purchase training supplies, adapted equipment, uniforms, and other necessary items to use this season (and beyond). Please follow the link to donate and share this post with your friends, if you are able, and check back later in the season for event photos and results!
Positivity Project
This week our character strength is PERSPECTIVE. Perspective means that you appreciate that people see things in different ways. You have the ability to understand the world from multiple points of view. Individuals with this strength might be described as: wise, stage, perceptive, insightful, observant, mindful.
Returning to Deerfield? Please Read!
Please help us plan for next year by filling out this form to let us know if your student will be joining us here at Deerfield next school year or not. We only need responses for students that are currently in TK through 4th grade. This helps us prepare for the staff, materials, and rooms that we will need for next year. If you don't know for sure one way or the other at this time, just select the "we are unsure" option. If plans change over the summer, that is okay. Filling out the form is not a registration or an enrollment. It is just a tool that we use to help with planning.
Forms are due April 4th.
Thank you for your help!
Read-A-Thon
Our Read-A-Thon fundraiser is off to an amazing start! Thank you to everyone who has already activated their student’s account. Please share your student's individual link with friends and family to donate, and encourage your student to read and enter their minutes online. At the conclusion of the fundraiser, Deerfield will receive 75% of the funds raised to help pay for our remaining assemblies for the school year. Your student will also receive 15% of their individual raised donations to shop in the Read-A-Thon store for prizes! Prizes must be selected by April 7th, then they will be delivered to Deerfield and distributed as soon as they arrive.
We encourage you to activate your reader’s account today by clicking on https://www.read-a-thon.com/readers/r/SlvuoW/1 and following the simple instructions. Don’t forget - students who log 100 minutes of reading each week will be entered into a raffle for a Target gift card. Also, any student who reads 400 minutes for the month will receive a code for a free ticket to a baseball game at Jimmy John’s field!
Thank you in advance for your help with raising funds for our school to bring in such educational and fun presentations! Happy Reading!
Deerfield Talent Show
Lights! Camera! Action! It's time for the annual Deerfield Talent Show! We can't wait to see our Falcons share their unique and creative talents. The talent show will take place on Wednesday, April 9th during the school day at 9:30 a.m. If your student would like to perform in the show, you must register online by March 17th. Please note there is a mandatory rehearsal on Monday, April 7th after school from 3:40-4:30. See the attached flyer for more details. If you have any questions/concerns during the process, you may reach out to Katia Kopko at: katia72@aol.com.

Education Benefits Application Reminder
This is a reminder for all families to complete the CEP Education Benefits Application, if you have not already done so for this school year. Although school meals are free for all students, it is critical that all households complete the CEP Education Benefits Application. This information determines the amount of money our schools receive from a variety of State and Federal supplemental programs that support our students, staff, and families.
Families can submit their completed application online through the Meal Magic Family Portal. Any questions can be forwarded to Megan Haase at megan.haase@avondaleschools.org.
