Sharpen your pencils! Pack your bookbags! It is back to school time for Joan MacQueen Middle School, home of the Dust Devils (#DustDevilPride). It should come as no surprise that this week will already be a busy week with Dust Devil Day on Monday, the first day of school on Wednesday, and Back to School Night on Thursday. We don’t waste any time here at Joan MacQueen because we are ready and excited to welcome your children for another exciting year. DUST DEVIL DAY!
Our Annual Dust Devil Day will be held on Monday, August 12 from 1-5pm in the JMMS Gym. Students will be able to pick up their Chromebook and pay for the Protection Plan. Class schedules will be available as well as PE clothes. PE clothes are $20 for purchase. We will also have our newly formed Joan MacQueen PTA there to sign people up as members of our PTA for $15. This is a great time to get those first of the year things handled before the first day of school. You can also take a minute and find where all of your classrooms are to ease those middle school nerves!
SCHOOL CAFE FORM
Please take a moment and fill out your School Cafe form BEFORE you come to Dust Devil Day! This will help save time when you arrive. This form helps us secure funding for JMMS that goes directly to our students. You can the link to SCHOOL CAFE by using the link below:
We will have our Back to School Night on Thursday, August 15 from 5:30-7:30pm. We will meet in the JMMS Gym at 5:30pm. After introducing our teaching staff and PTA, we will release families and care givers to visit each class on their child's schedule. We will finish up our night by 7:30pm. Please make sure that you take a screen shot of your child's schedule ahead of time on Parent Vue or from your child's printout of their schedule that they receive on Dust Devil Day. Incoming 7th Grade TDAP Immunization Reminder
This is a reminder that all incoming 7th grade students need documentation of their Tdap booster and/or Varicella immunization in order for them to be able to start 7th grade in the fall. We strongly encourage you to make your appointments now so that you have plenty of time for the appointment and to deliver the documentation to school before the start of the 2024-2025 school year.
Please deliver the documentation of your student’s updated immunizations to Mrs. Kaster by email at mkaster@alpineschools.net. You can also drop the documentation off at the JMMS front office. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
