CELEBRATIONS
Great things are happening at WCS!
This week we held our annual Open House. Families were invited to tour the classrooms and see their students' work. They could also check out some of the programming that youth-centered organizations from the Bath/Woolwich have to offer. We love these opportunities to gather together as a community. Thank you to all who came out!
FLU CLINIC
In partnership with Lincoln Health, influenza vaccinations will be offered to Woolwich Central School students this fall. This optional one-day flu clinic is scheduled for Friday, October 25th. If you would like to have your student receive the flu vaccine at school, we must have a consent form signed and returned to the school nurse no
later than Thursday, October 17th. CLICK HERE for more information and to access the consent form.
WCS Parent Directory
Monday, 9/30 will be the last opportunity for parents/guardians to add their contact information to the WCS Parent Directory. Those who sign up will receive a printed copy of contact info for their child's grade (including only the information provided through THIS LINK.) This PTA program is optional, and we would like to remind families that this will be the best way to reach out to your student's friends for play dates, birthday parties, and anything outside of school!
LINES FROM THE LIBRARY
Our 4th-8th grade students will meet award winning author, Gary D. Schmidt, in a few weeks! Students have the opportunity to buy discounted books by Mr. Schmidt that he will sign during his visit. An order form went home this week and is due back WEDNESDAY, OCT. 2 to ensure the book order arrives in time. Please contact Ms. Luchies (aluchies@rsu1.org) if you have any questions.
PTA NEWS
The PTA is very excited to be kicking off our Get Glowing Fun Run Fundraiser! This glow-in-the-dark event will be held October 18th from 5-7, and we will have activities, glow jewelry, food for sale, and of course, running! This event is open to the whole school. Please take a look at the information sent home with your student this week, and use our link to sign your student(s) up today: https://app.99pledges.com/fund/getglowing/addme
If you own a business and would like some publicity while supporting our Woolwich students, please consider sponsoring a classroom! Donors with a $100 sponsorship will receive a sponsorship certificate on the door of your classroom of choice and a post on our social media. $250 is a gold level sponsorship that will provide the above things, as well as a shout-out at the beginning of our fun run, extra social media advertisement, and a spot on our flyers. Please contact Carly at mywcspta@gmail.com to get a sponsorship form! PS: your sponsorship amount goes towards your sponsored classroom’s overall total. Your child’s class will get credit for your donation, your business will get publicity- it’s a win all around!
HEALTHY HIGHLIGHTS
Things to talk about

The Annual Harvest Supper is happening on Saturday, 10/19 from 4:30 - 6:30pm Tickets are available from any WCS 8th grader, and will also be on sale at the door, the night of the dinner. This event is a fundraiser for our 8th grade's trip to Washington, D.C. in the spring.
The Woolwich Word is starting back up and it is fully staffed! We're looking forward to all the creative insight the students will bring to our school newspaper! Stay tuned for the first issue.
