We all want a smooth last week prior to spring break.
At school, we will be reminding students about proper behavior and school-wide expectations.

- Closely monitor and review your studentβs online and social media posts.
- Seek help from school if your student is talking about violence, is angry or making any type of threat towards self or others. Please contact your schoolβs counselor, administrator, or other trusted adult who can connect you with resources or help needed.

Solar Eclipse Parent Information
On Monday, April 8th, a total solar eclipse will cross North America, passing over Mexico, the United States, and Canada. A total solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the Sun. The sky will darken as if it were dawn or dusk. This is an exciting and significant event from both an instructional and a safety perspective, respectively.
In Atlanta, we will experience an 80% partial solar eclipse. The partial eclipse will begin at 1:08 PM, hit maximum at 3:04 PM, and end at 4:21 PM.
To support our schools with this experience, we are providing certified solar eclipse glasses to every student and employee in the district. Glasses will be delivered to schools on March 28th and March 29th.
Schools will be able to hold instructional lessons related to the experience of the solar eclipse. However, it is essential that all students, parents, and staff understand the safety concerns. Further, when planning events, it is essential that school leaders understand the risks so that all appropriate precautions may be put in place.
One of the most important messages to convey is not to loo k directly at the eclipse with your naked eyes. You should only use sanctioned or certified eclipse-viewing glasses or some other type of solar viewer. The danger is permanent damage to the retina of the eye.
NASA's website is very clear: The only safe way to look directly at the uneclipsed or partially eclipsed sun is through special-purpose solar filters, such as "eclipse glasses" or hand-held solar viewers. Homemade filters or ordinary sunglasses, even very dark ones, are not safe for looking at the sun.......Do not look at the uneclipsed or partially eclipsed sun through an unfiltered camera, telescope, binoculars, or another optical device. Similarly, do not look at the sun through a camera, a telescope, binoculars, or any other optical device while using your eclipse glasses or hand-held solar viewer β the concentrated solar rays will damage the filter and enter your eye(s), causing serious injury.
Other Important Information:
- All student absences and/or checkouts on this day will be counted as excused without requiring written documentation from the parent. Parents who wish to pick up their students should do so prior to 1:00 P.M. If parents come after this time, please note we cannot prevent parents from picking up their student(s).
- Dismissal will proceed as normal. Please send all students home with solar eclipse glasses for the bus, bus stops, etc...

FCS Parent Survey Communication
Dear Parents and Guardians,
The Department of Program Evaluation is currently evaluating the Security Controls Program for FCS. As part of this evaluation, we are surveying students in 3rd β 12th grades about their feelings and opinions of safety and security at school.
FCS has contracted with Health Management Associates (HMA) to evaluate this program and conduct the survey. All information gathered from the survey is entirely anonymous and will be used to guide decision-making to improve the safety and security of our schools.
The survey will open on March 25th and will take no more than 15 minutes for students to complete. As a parent or guardian, you have the right to view the survey questions in advance. A sample survey is attached for you to review.
Please note that the district is also conducting a survey on school nutrition at the same time. Thus, if you have a student in a different school, they may take that survey instead. The district used random selection to assign each school only one survey for their students to take to reduce the number of surveys we ask of students.

Media Center Information
If a student has a cracked screen, they should complete the attached form and bring the computer/form to the media center.
***CHANGE β if the student is missing their cord or the cord is broken, teachers can complete the form linked HERE. (Please include the students first and list name. No nicknames please.) You can list all names on one form. No need to come to the media center.
If a student has a device that will not open DRC, they will need to complete the form and bring the computer/form to the media center.
Clinic Information
Please note the clinic does not supply any medications for student use.
You can either come by the front desk and give the medication to your student or you may fill out our SHS - 1 form and keep the medication in the clinic.

βStudent Success Skills Inventory PARENT INFORMATION"
The Student Success Skills Inventory is used to measure student growth across Student Success Skill standards as a result of ReThink Ed lessons. Students will complete the 15-20 item inventory between April 8, 2024 β April 12, 2024. It takes about 15 minutes to complete. The inventory is pushed out to students using the Illuminate platform. Parents can choose to opt their student out of the inventory. To opt out, parents must submit a written request to opt out to the school principal.β

Summer is often a time when families move and transfer their children to another school. If this is something that your family is planning, please let the Counseling Office know as it is helpful to know which students are not returning and where they are going. A Fulton County Withdrawal Form needs to be filled out, if you are moving. School Governance Council
Dear Parents,
It is time for the election of new members to our School Governance Council. The School Governance Council has one parent position open for election starting in July 2024. It is a two-year term.
Our School Governance Council (SGC) plays a critical role in the success of our school. The SGC works with school leadership and the community to help determine the long-term direction of the school, design innovative solutions to increase academic achievement, and serve as school ambassadors to the local community. Specifically, the School Governance Council has the following powers:
β’ Create, approve, and monitor the implementation of the school strategic plan
β’ Manage the Request for Flexibility process
β’ Approve the annual budget recommendations and related allocations
β’ Participate in the hiring of the principal, in the case of a vacancy
β’ Provide annual feedback to the Area Superintendent on principal performance.
We are very excited about the work of our SGC. We hope that you will consider running for a position! The Candidate Declaration period ends March 29th and voting will take place April 17th to April 24th. Lost and Found
Please have your student check our lost and found for any item(s) that have been lost. We have a significant number of coats, sweatshirts, water bottles, and lunch boxes. OrlandoFest 2024
Congratulations to the AMMS Band, Orchestra, and Chorus students and teachers on their recent trip to the OrlandoFest competition last weekend. All three ensembles gave amazing performances, and we are thrilled to share that the band was awarded 2nd place in their division, the chorus was awarded 1st place in their division and the orchestra was not only 1st place in their division but also awarded the Grand Champion award.
The students had a fantastic time, and the directors want to thank them as well as all the fantastic parent and teacher chaperones who made the trip such a success!

Paying on your student's lunch accounts.
You must create an account.
There are two categories that parents can deposit their students' lunch money:
General and Meal.
If deposited in a student's Meal account, the student can only purchase whole breakfast and/or whole lunch meals (not sides or extras).
General account is for meals, snacks, and extras.
Note:
You may also send cash with your student that can be given directly to cashier in the lunchroom.
If you pay by check, please make sure the check is made out to "Autrey Mill Middle School" and in the notes/Memo section, please put students name and student ID number. This can be handed directly to cashier in the lunchroom.
Fulton County Public Schools is now offering a secure website to facilitate student records requests and transcripts.
All requests for student records/information will be submitted and paid for (if applicable) online. Phone and fax requests will no longer be accepted.

Attendance Information
Parent's Responsibility When a Child is Absent
- Parents should notify the school before or after the absence(s)
- Notes should be directed to attendance owner at the school
- Handwritten note or email
- Notification from parents should happen no later than 5 days after absence
Middle School
- Middle School messages begin going out around 4:30 p.m. on the day of the absence.
- If your student is absent or misses one or more periods of the school day, they will be marked with an "A" (for absent) in our attendance system, and you will receive an automated phone call and email message to the designated contact info you provided in Infinite Campus. This includes excused absences that are approved in advance.
- Errors can occur and if you feel you received a phone call by mistake, contact your school front office to verify that your studentβs attendance record is accurate.
- If your student's absence was unexpected, please remember to contact your child's school by sending in a note or email so the absence can be marked "excused" in the system.

FCS COVID 19 Reporting
Due to the ever-changing nature of this pandemic, the district will continue to monitor COVID data and recommendations, consult with public health officials, and make additional adjustments as necessary. If your child is sick, please keep them home. Families are still required to report a confirmed positive case of COVID-19, a pending COVID-19 test result (regardless of the reason for testing), and a direct contact with a person who is COVID-19 positive. FCS student/parents must use the Parent Reporting Portal to make the COVID-19 report.
