A Message from the Superintendent
January 11, 2024
Dear District 36 Families & Staff,
We are closely monitoring the winter weather that is forecasted to impact our area throughout the day on Friday, January 12. At this time, schools will remain open as planned; however, all after school activities will be canceled (with the exception of after school care, which will remain open). No clubs, sports or extracurricular activities will be hosted.
We are additionally monitoring the cold weather predicted for next week. Should there be a need to close schools on Tuesday, January 16, this day would be treated as an emergency weather day with no attendance by staff or students, and no remote learning planned.
Should any additional emergency days be needed this year, any and all of those days will be taken as remote learning days and count toward attendance for the school year, with no need to make up the days.
The decision to adjust school schedules due to weather is made in coordination with other New Trier Township schools. We will continue to work together and keep our communities informed as we look to next week’s weather pattern. In the meantime, please stay warm and safe as this winter weather passes through.
Sincerely,
Dr. Kelly Tess,
Superintendent
