STUDENT(S) OF THE MONTH
In MARCH the school focused on COURAGE and our Student(s) of the Month were chosen for demonstrating this trait during the month!
A WORD FROM PRINCIPAL WILSON
Dear Taylor Families,
Spring is in full bloom! I hope everyone had a fantastic spring break in March and are gearing up for our last quarter of school already!
Theme of the Month:
For the month of April, our theme will be Inclusivity. We want all of our students to feel a sense of belonging and welcomed at school. Teachers will be talking with their students this month about making others feel included when they see someone who is not being included at school.
CMAS Testing:
Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students are starting CMAS testing next week. I am so proud of all their hard work throughout the year, and I know they will rock the test. If you have a student in these grades, please remind them to eat a good breakfast, get plenty of sleep, and be on time to school so they feel calm and ready. Click HERE to view the CMAS schedule.
New Hires:
With the closure of Clifton Elementary, we have the unique opportunity to welcome new staff members to support our growing student community. Over the past few weeks, we have been busy interviewing and hiring exceptional educators and we are excited to introduce the newest members of our team. Their passion, experience, and dedication will be a wonderful addition to our school, and we can’t wait for you to meet them next year! Click HERE to view our grade-level teams and newest staff members so far!
Class Placement Input for the 2025-2026 School Year:
For the 2025-2026 school year, we are formalizing teacher requests through a request form. If you have any specific requests for your student, please click HERE to submit your request. Please complete and submit this form no later than the end of the day Friday, April 18, 2025 to be considered.
Volunteer Appreciation:
Volunteer Appreciation Week is coming up the week of April 21st, and I wanted to thank all of our wonderful volunteers for all that you have done to help our school run smoothly this year. Whether you’ve supported PTO, Art Heritage, or stepped in to help in classrooms and school events, your time and effort make a meaningful impact. We are so grateful for you and all that you do to support our students and staff. Our school truly wouldn't be the same without you! THANK YOU for your time and support throughout the year!
Thank you for your ongoing support of your child and our school. As always, feel free to reach out with any questions.

COUNSELOR'S CORNER WITH MS. SERENITY
With less than two months of school left on top of this beautiful weather, I think we are all dealing with a little (or a lot of) spring fever! Remember the power of play and having fun with your kids, especially outside, while we have this amazing spring weather. A trip to the park, a bike ride, or even just playing in the backyard together costs nothing but can add so much value to the relationship between you and your child!
We don’t have any new groups starting this month but Calm Ninjas groups for emotional regulation and Changing Families group for those experiencing parental separation or divorce continue to be held every week at Taylor. I will offer both of these groups, plus a grief group, in the 2025-26 school year so if you think your child could benefit, please email or call Ms. Serenity.
Lessons with Ms. Serenity will focus on the following topics this month:
Kindergarten and 1st grade will work on paying attention to the clues their body gives them to help them STOP, NAME THEIR FEELING and CALM DOWN using either deep breathing, counting or self-talk when they are feeling big, strong feelings.
Second graders will practice how to calm down when they make mistakes and when they are feeling worried using the protocol of STOP, NAME YOUR FEELING and CALM DOWN by taking deep breaths, counting or using self-talk protocol.
Third grade will practice using those same calm down steps to manage feeling disappointed and to manage being accused of something.
Fourth graders will practice making conversation by including compliments in a conversation with their partner.
Fifth graders are learning more about themselves by exploring their interests and preferences and how those interests and preferences can help us explore careers that might be a good fit for them.
