St. Petronille Catholic School
A Note from Mr. Schmidt
St. Petronille Families,
One week until Spring Break! While there have been some forward-looking communications this week, I want to make sure that I recognize our 8th grade class! Last weekend, our 8th graders, along with their peers in the Religious Education program, made their Confirmation in a beautiful ceremony. It has been a joy to see them grow and develop over the years, and especially as they have taken on new responsibility as the student-leaders in our school! We are incredibly proud of your accomplishments and look forward to celebrating you as we quickly approach graduation season!
I also have to express appreciation for some of our teachers. Our 8th grade teachers, Mrs. Murray and Mrs. Onesti, put countless hours into helping to prepare our students to receive the sacrament and deserve a huge amount of thanks. Similarly, Mrs. Baumert and Mrs. Nilson continue to work hard to get their 2nd graders ready for their First Communion in early May - there is so much to look forward to!
Lastly, but very importantly, you may have seen the announcement earlier today that Mrs. Russell intends to retire from her 5th grade teaching position at the end of this school year. Mrs. Russell has certainly given her heart and soul to this community and to her students over her years teaching our 5th and 6th graders and I am truly overwhelmed with gratitude for all that she has done for our students and our staff. Her departure will certainly be deeply felt, but we fully intend to take her up on her offer to be a regular substitute teacher!
I have linked the (correct) tuition announcement for the 25-26 school year at the end of this note. Please read through if you have not done so already and reach out with any questions or concerns.
We look forward to a great week before a needed break - remember that it is an Out-of-Uniform Pass Week!
God bless,
Eric Schmidt
Accepting School Board Applications
The St. Petronille School Board is seeking candidates to join the School Board for a 3-year term beginning June 2025. Being a part of the board is a great opportunity to contribute to the success of St Petronille School! We are seeking diverse skillsets to add to our team to contribute to current projects to improve teacher compensation, classroom technology, curricular resources, and tuition assistance as well as to promote new initiatives to help to forge our school’s future. We look forward to what the future holds and prayerfully hope to attract new School Board members who share our enthusiasm for creating a bright future for our students, school, and community. Please know that School Board members do not need to be school parents, and we are open to applications from all individuals who share our investment in the future of our parish school.
Please submit applications to School Board President, Jonathan Sluys, via email at stp@sluys.net.
