The Weekly Update
from SD State Library School Library Services
September 7, 2021
Collect + Connect Facebook Group
According to the recent survey for school librarians that over 80 of you filled out, the weekly blog isn't getting very many reads. However, you are still wanting a platform to be able to collect ideas and connect with fellow librarians around the state. I learned over the last 18 months that one of the easiest and most efficient ways to share ideas and find support from like-minded people is through a Facebook Group!
There are several groups that were GAME CHANGERS for me during the 2020-2021 school year: Follett Destiny Users for Librarians, Library Bulletin Boards and Displays, and Middle School Librarians/Media Coordinators just to name a few!
So, I took an old inactive SDSL group on Facebook that was used for Boot Camp, and repurposed it into our NEW Collect + Connect group! The Collect + Connect group is for SD School Librarians! Join to share your ideas and photos, ask your questions, reach out for advice, and discuss all of the awesomeness that happens in your library!
Congrats to our FREE book WINNERS!
Thank you for taking time to fill out the recent survey for school librarians!

3 Great Books
The Prairie Bud, Prairie Bloom, and Prairie Pasque Children's Book Awards are sponsored by the South Dakota Library Association. Prairie Bud winners are determined by South Dakota PreK, kindergarten, and first grade students. Prairie Bloom winners are determined by South Dakota second and third grade students. Prairie Pasque winners are determined by South Dakota fourth and fifth grade students. Students are encouraged to read and give a star rating for any book they read from the master lists of titles. The books receiving the highest number of stars from the students win the awards. A committee of educators and librarians selects the books nominated for the awards.
