Attached is the Google form to sign up for positions on the board. Each position has a description of the responsibilities. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me. The last day to submit the form is May 4, 2024.

AOC Students Recognized as 2024 Student Visionaries of the Year!
Good News! Congratulations, Nathan Patrus and Isaac Woldetsadik!
Nathan Patrus and Isaac Woldetsadik joined the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society as Student Visionaries and worked hard for the past six months to raise funds for blood cancer research. They were on a team of 12 students from various schools in Southern California and the team name was Fight for LLS.
Overall, they competed with ten other teams of students and adults from Southern California and began a seven week challenge to collect funds for blood cancer research. They helped put on events in the community to help the cause such as a 5K at the Paseo Club and a High Tea party fundraiser.
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society held a gala at the Sherwood Country Club on April 19, 2024 where they announced that the Fight for LLS team (Nathan and Isaac’s team) came in first place. Their team raised a total of $123,189! They were named as the 2024 Student Visionaries of the Year! Congratulations on a job well done!

AOC Community is Invited to the Class of 2024 Gift Ceremony on May 10th at 6pm
Ceremony, A Bench in Memory of Louie Barba for the AOC Community held on May 10th from 6-7:00pm at Sunset
Hi AOC Senior Families,
Our students in our AOC Senior class have asked us to hold a special place in our hearts and minds and to ensure that we take action to preserve the special memory of our beloved student, Louie Barba. All of these activities have been planned and organized by Senior students and have been approved by the Barba family.
During Senior Advisement classes, while I reviewed important dates and information for their graduation and the month of May, I also shared the plans that our students and the family have put together in memory of Louie. This includes the following events:
The Louie Barba Memorial Bench, A Gift from the Senior Class of 2024 to the Academy of the Canyons, the event will be held on May 10th from 6pm-7:00pm at sunset in front of the school, all community members are invited.
Louie Barba Scholarship from the Barba Family to be given at the Senior Awards Ceremony to be gifted to one AOC Senior on May 10th during lunch.
A planted tree at the beginning of the ROOTED in Nature Trail will be planted in the ground from the students at AOC.
Balloon release in the COC Outdoor Amphitheater after the Senior Class graduation photo and an image will be captured of the class releasing the balloons in memory of Louie Barba.
A special chair will be designated for Louie Barba in memory of Louie at the graduation ceremony. His name will be called as a graduate from AOC on stage and a family member will receive a diploma.
As we honor and celebrate the life of Louie, we invite you to join us at the Senior Class Ceremony gifting a Louie Barba Memorial Bench to AOC on May 10th from 6-7:00pm to commemorate his legacy. Your support and presence will mean a great deal to our students and the Barba family during this time. A formal invitation is included in the Acorn newsletter to all families.
If you have any questions or need further information about this event, please contact me directly at my email address (jfine@hartdistrict.org). Your understanding and compassion are greatly appreciated as we come together as a community to remember and honor Louie.
Warm regards,
Dr. Juliet Fine
