Principal's Corner
Dear Southfield A&T Families,
As we approach the end of the school year, I can’t help but reflect on how quickly time flies when you’re having fun! It feels like just yesterday we were welcoming the Class of 2025, and now here we are, gearing up to celebrate their graduation tomorrow, June 6th, at the iconic Aretha Franklin Amphitheater.
I’m thrilled to announce that I will have the honor of delivering the commencement speech for this remarkable class. They will be remembered not just for their academic achievements, but also for their leadership and the positive impact they have made on our school culture. It’s a bittersweet moment as we say goodbye to this wonderful group of students who have brightened our halls and enriched our community.
I would like to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated teachers. Your commitment and support have been instrumental in guiding our students and fostering an environment where they can thrive. Thank you for all you do!
As we closed the week, we had a productive meeting with our rising seniors, sharing exciting information about their upcoming senior activities for next year. It’s hard to believe they’ll soon be donning caps and gowns, but we’re excited to help them make lasting memories.
Thank you for your continued support, and let’s make this celebration one for the books!
Warm regards,
David Reese, Principal

Celebrating Student Success in Career & Technical Education (CTE)
Career & Technical Education (CTE) plays a vital role in preparing students for the workforce by equipping them with industry-relevant skills and credentials. One of the most significant outcomes of CTE programs is the opportunity for students to earn industry certifications—recognized credentials that validate an individual’s expertise in a specific field.
These certifications demonstrate a student’s proficiency in the skills and knowledge essential for career advancement or entry into specialized occupations. Offered across all CTE courses, these credentials are widely recognized by employers and professional organizations, often leading to increased job opportunities and higher earning potential.
We are proud to recognize the following students who have successfully earned industry certifications in their respective CTE courses. Their hard work and commitment reflect a strong foundation for future success in high-demand career pathways.
Congratulations to all of our certified students! Your achievements represent not just a milestone, but a launchpad toward a promising and prosperous future.
Levey Middle School Visit
Our students and staff had an opportunity to share many of the great programs offered at A&T with Levey students.
Boy's Golf
Let's hear it for the 2025 Boys Golf Team! These 7 young men dedicated themselves to learning the game of golf. They hit thousands of balls at Beech Woods Driving Range, developing their skills. When we finally got to play in matches on golf courses, including Glenhurst, Rackham, and Evergreen Hills, the team got its first taste of real competition. Each week, the team lowered its scoring average. Our top 4 scorers this year were Cameron Cross, Alfonzia NIchols, Khalil Bailey, and Krish Patel. Close behind them were Antonio Causey, Lance Lanier, and Richard White IV. All 7 of our golfers played like Warriors. Hit 'em straight! -Coach Hirvela

Leaders in Action #9 written by Paris Whitman
As we reach the end of the school year, it is exciting to provide updates and celebrations from our leaders in action.
Celebrating the Class of 2025
Our senior class enjoyed a memorable end to their high school career. From a wonderful night at prom to their Senior Breakfast, the Class of 2025 has been celebrated with style and admiration. They will graduate officially this Friday, and we are so proud of each of them. A great thank you to the National Honor Society for their help at the ceremony and the Class of 2026 for their support at prom.
Rising Seniors Mark the Moment
The Class of 2026 has officially stepped into the spotlight of their high school journey. The celebratory next step was for the students to dress in all black to represent their class' "blackout."
