Greetings AOC Families,

I hope that you had a restful weekend! Here is the student bulletin for next week. We look forward to seeing everyone at Showcase on 5/16, Thursday. And, as a reminder, we have an early release day next Friday, 5/24. Students in each grade level will receive information about the next grade in Student Panel Presentations. The talks will focus on preparing for the next year's college and high school classes. And, we will end the day with a Pizza Party sponsored by ROOTS, our PTA. Students will be released at 12:20pm.

The last day of the school year is quickly approaching. It will be held on May 30th, the same day as our senior graduation.

May 24th- Student Panels, minimum day schedule, students learn from grade level peers and school-wide Pizza Party supplied by ROOTS special schedule and early dismissal (at 12:20pm)

May 27th-No School, Memorial Day

May 28th-Senior Pancake Breakfast at 10:30-12:30pm in the Cougar Den

May 29th- Senior Graduation Rehearsals in the PAC (11:00am), ASB hosts Senior Sunset and Cap Decorating (in the plaza, in front of AOC) and special Extended Lunch Schedule for all students

May 30th- Graduation at 6pm in the COC Performing Arts Center (PAC) and last day of school, last day of COC '24 Spring classes

May 31st-Teacher work day, no students

June 1st-August 11- Summer Break

All families and community members are invited to AOC's Open House, called Showcase. Our students will display and explain their student projects and work that they completed this school year. Incoming freshman students are also invited to a special ASB activity held in the University Center located in room 258. We hope that you can join us! It's a community-wide event.

Please help ROOTS with a fundraiser that raises money for their work with the school. Join the bake sale!

Hello Senior Families!

Academy of the Canyons Class of 2024 graduation will be held on Thursday, May 30th at 6 pm

in the Performing Arts Center (PAC) located on the College of the Canyons Valencia Campus.

Graduation rehearsal will be held on Wednesday, May 29th at 11:00 am and attendance is

mandatory. Caps, gowns, cords will ONLY be given out at the graduation rehearsal. Students will pick up their graduation tickets the next day at AOC at 8:30am.with their Senior Teachers.

Students who have COC classes during this time must notify Ms. Grijalva, and Dr. Fine. Dr. Fine will schedule a meeting before ASB's Senior Sunset event so students can pick up their cap and gowns.

If you require handicap seating please email Ms. Tuttle at ctuttle@hartdistrict.org.

Doors open at 5:00 pm. Ushers will be on-site to take tickets. A ticket will be required to enter

the venue. Please do not line up early. There is plenty of seating and visitors will be asked to

wait in their car until the doors open.

Balloons, horns, confetti or any other items that might cause visual or audio disruption are not

allowed.

Lots 2, 4, and 5 are closest to the Performing Arts Center. You are not required to pay for

parking and parking permits are not needed.

Students will receive their diploma at graduation. Our graduation ceremony will also be livestreamed for those that are unable to attend the event in person.

Thank you to our Senior Class of 2024 and the Seniors who spearheaded this project. It was remarkable evening, marked by the symbolic planting of the tree at the onset of the ROOTED in Nature wellness trail. Our sincere appreciations goes to Mr. Wilhelm and Danica for their dedication and commitment to the students' endeavors. We have been deeply moved by the Barba family's compassionate embrace of our AOC community and students. In honor of Louie, we will continue to have a memory box available in the Wellness Room where students and AOC community members like can share any notes, thoughts or mementos as tokens of remembrance. The tribute will find a home in the Memory Box, preserving our deepest most cherished memories and heart moving thoughts of Louie. It will be placed in the Memory Box. For those who have yet to witness the beautiful gift bestowed upon AOC by the Senior Class, it proudly stands in front of the school, awaiting your admiration at Showcase. May Louie Barba's memory endure forever in our hearts.

For many AOC students, it can be challenging to balance college, high school and outside activities. Bella sets an example for our students and maintained a dancing career while attending AOC. Below, you'll see images of her routine where Bella won first place overall for her hip hop duet and second place overall for her hip hop group dance. OUTSTANDING, Bella! Well Done! We're so proud of you!

Thank you, ROOTS! Thank you to the Razi Family, the Jawich family, the Haykal family, the Williams family and our executive board for sponsoring all of the days events, setting up, decorating and making our staff lounge a special place everyday this week for our teachers and staff. You brought us breakfast, lunch, smoothies and desserts! And we even received gifts from the generosity of both ROOTS and the Patrus family. It was unbelievably kind and uplifting! As educators, we felt APPRECIATED!!! And I cannot thank our executive board enough! Mrs. Finch, Mrs. Griffith, Mrs. Zhang, and Mrs.Hajjar and everyone listed above. Thank you for making everyone feel very loved and cared for this week! The little notes from ASB meant the to us! Your kindness is felt and seen Thank you to every family and student that contributed to this week of events. We feel so grateful for your care for us! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Located on the campus of College of the Canyons, AOC is proud to be the middle college high school in the William S. Hart Union High School District serving students 9th-12th grades in the Santa Clarita Valley. Students have the opportunity to earn between 24 and 44 transferable college units, prior to receiving their high school diplomas. Upon graduation, the majority of Academy students pursue their post high school education by continuing at COC and completing their college transfer requirements in only one year after high school. Other AOC students go directly into a four-year university, bringing their community college units with them and placing themselves well into their freshman and sophomore years at the college level. While attending AOC as a high school student, community college tuition is waived for established California residents.
