Daniel Webster Elementary School
Weekly Update - November 22, 2024
Congratulations to Educators of the Week Mrs.Morris & Mrs. Kennedy
Congratulations to our amazing administrative assistants, who support the students, staff, and families of the DWS! Mrs. Morris and Mrs. Kennedy do an incredible job keeping things running smoothly. Whether it's calling families regarding transportation, ordering materials for the classrooms, or getting a bandaid for a scraped knee, they always step in to take care of whatever is needed. They greet every family and visitor with a warm smile, provide steady support to our teachers, and ensure our students feel safe and cared for every day. Their dedication, organization, and kindness make a lasting impact on everyone in our school community. We are so grateful for all they do!

Please join the DWS PTO on PTBoard, today!
PTBoard is an online platform that we use to communicate school information, events and volunteer opportunities to families. As we move away from sending home paper flyers, this will be the only way to stay up-to-date on school events and place orders for school spiritwear, etc. Accounts are free to set up and in no way commit you to volunteering for the PTO. Please reach out with questions at yourdwspto@gmail.com.
Download the App “PTBoard Mobile” in the App Store today!
Still Looking for 1 Site Council Member
Since the passage of the 1993 Education Reform Act, all schools in Massachusetts must form School Councils, which include representation from parents, teachers, the community, and school administration. The purpose of the School Council is to involve parents and teachers in school decision-making. The School Council will also formulate an annual school improvement plan with the goal of strengthening the bond between our school and the Marshfield community we serve. This plan is then submitted to the Superintendent and School Committee.
We are looking for ONE parent to join our School Council this year! We encourage all parents to consider this opportunity for meaningful dialogue and active participation in our Daniel Webster School community. The meetings are generally held once each month on Tuesdays at 4:00.

DWS Kids are All Smiles
This week we hosted dentists from the Protecting All Smiles Program. Families were given the opportunity to have their students participate in a dental screening and cleaning!
Grade 4 Discovers Animal Defenses
Fourth grade students started their unit on animal behavior and defenses. To begin, students worked in teams to learn about the different ways animals protect themselves in order for survival.
First Graders Sunny Singing
First grade students began their ELA unit on the Sun, Moon, and Stars. Our amazing specialists have collaborated with the first grade team to bring this theme across their discipline areas. In music, Ms. Matheson has been helping our students learn the notes and rhythm of a song related to their module topic.
