Vape Detectors in our Schools
Vape detectors have been in place for the past few years at Rosemount and Eagan High Schools, where they have proven helpful for maintaining a safe school.
Now, additional vape detectors, funded by the 2023 Bond Referendum, have been installed in all other high school and middle school campuses. The effort is to improve safety, security, and supervision.
The detectors offer advanced sensor technology which enhances security with real-time notifications for vaping, air quality and safety events. No visual or audio recording helps ensure privacy while adding protection and awareness for proactive response.
Our goals are:
- Start conversations with students before consequences are necessary
- To prevent more serious behavior issues often associated with vaping (e.g., bullying, agitation, addiction).
- To use time and location data to interrupt behaviors or adjust supervision in specific areas.
- To encourage families to talk with students about vaping and healthy choices.
- To work together with families to foster safe, healthy, and supportive schools for all learners.
By increasing supervision and early intervention, we can support students in making informed, positive decisions about their health and maintain a positive school environment.
NHS Applications Due April 24th!
National Honor Society applications were sent out to qualifying Eagan High School sophomores and juniors with a GPA of 3.8 or 3.6 and honors status. Students may submit applications early but no late applications will be accepted. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Gesk or Mrs. Thompson.
NHS Service Hour Reminder:
- All members must complete twelve hours of service each trimester. All hours must be posted in InnerView by the last day of each trimester. Seniors, however, will be required to turn in half their spring hours in early May because of deadlines associated with the graduation program.
- To receive credit for service hours, members must completely report their hours in InnerView, including a clear description of the activity and specific dates, and the supervisor cannot be the member's parent. (If the parent is the supervisor, please see Ms. Gesk for individual approval.)
