#POSITIVESIGNTHURSDAY #GOPENGUINS
Dear Moraine Families,
"Parents have the power to grant this freedom to fail. Teachers have the ability to transform that failure into an education. And together? Together, we have the potential to nurture a generation of confident, competent adults."
If you are like me, summer is a great time to dive into a book and take a reflective look at life. The above is an excerpt from Jessica Lahey's book "The Gift of Failure" and I invite you to join our August Book Chat!
It's simple - read the book over the summer and join Moraine parents before school to talk about your takeaways. It's a great way to share this messy, non-perfect parenting thing we're all trying to figure out. I have 15 FREE books to give away for the first 15 people to sign up! Sign up Here :)

Moraine PTA Scrip Program
Hi Moraine Families!
Each year our school is able to fundraise by the purchase of Scrip cards. Scrip simply means “substitute money”-in other words it’s a gift card to national & local retailers that you would normally buy in their store. It’s another easy way for our school to make money. We are once again, offering scrip card purchases. Whether you’d like them for end of the year teacher gifts, father’s day gifts or just summer date-nights or fun outings with the kids, please considering purchasing them.
The order form is attached. A physical copy will also be going home with students next Tuesday in their “Monday” envelope. Simply turn in your order form to the office with a check made out to Moraine PTA by Friday, June 3rd. Pickup will be Thursday June 9th from 8:30am-9am & 3:45-4:15pm. After that you can stop by the office during regular hours.

UPDATED COVID RESPONSE PROTOCOL
COVID-19 cases have continued to increase across the state and in our community over the past few weeks placing our county and many counties across the state in a “HIGH” community risk category. The CDC and MDHHS recommends that individuals wear masks indoors and on public transportation. At all levels, the CDC recommends people get vaccinated and boosted, and get tested if they have symptoms, and suggests that anyone wanting to wear a mask should do so.
This is a reminder to our students, staff and families to be mindful of the current community level and plan accordingly for the needs of yourself and family members. Under the CDC and MDHHS guidance, risk levels are based on hospital capacity, hospital COVID admissions and COVID-19 cases.
SCREENING and REPORTING REMINDERS
As a reminder, PLEASE continue to use the COVID screener tool EACH day. Children who are exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 need to stay home from school and parents need to seek medical attention. This is an important measure that will help prevent or reduce the spread of the virus in our schools. In addition, please contact your child’s school via the attendance line and report that there is a positive case in your household. You will receive further instructions from your school and we will follow the NPS COVID RESPONSE PROTOCOL, as recommended by MDHHS
BUILDING and DISTRICT CASE REPORTING
If you would like to be aware of the cases reported to each building, please visit the NPS COVID-19 Case Transparency Report, found under the COVID-19 Dashboard link on the main page of the district website. This transparency report is updated throughout the week with cases identified by building and grade level.
Northville Youth Network
Northville Youth Network (NYN) provides valuable programs and services to the Northville Community such as education and awareness, referral services and case work services. As part of the ongoing Social Emotional education NYN provides to our community, they have included resources that are available for parents! Please check out NYN's latest resource templates: Encouraging SEL Development in Children and Teens and Listening and Responding to your Children and Teens as well as all of their other offerings! Be sure to check back in the future as their templates will be updated throughout the year (https://www.twp.northville.mi.us/your_government/departments/NYN)
