The Lion Letter
Weekly Update - 10.18.2024 - Issue 11
Attendance Matters! Monthly Winners
Students that had 95 - 100% attendance during the months of August or September were recognized in their classrooms with a special "brag tag" that they can put on their backpacks. Students that collect this special prize each month get special recognition by our school principal, Mr. Swank, or assistant principal, Ms. Alton. At the end of the year, students with the best attendance will be invited to an "AttenDANCE" party!
We are in the middle of October, so there is still time to show up every day for the next two weeks and win the prize for this month.
Special shout out to Ms. Gutierrez and Mr. Sega for organizing this super cool system of incentives.

Have You Seen Our New Crosswalk Construction?
Families that drive to school - Please make sure that you keep an eye out for our Laurel families that walk to school. We have had some close calls with the construction distracting our walkers and drivers so we would like to keep everyone safe. We are the Laurel Lions - the Pride of Oceanside!
Dinosaur School Update
Dina the Dino shares tips about Respect
This week we talked about respecting personal space (our protective bubbles):
ASK before you pop someone's bubble (for a hug, holding hands, or just getting too close)
Say "No thank you, I need space right now" if someone is crossing your personal space line (like the hula hoop)
During the week families can reinforce students respecting personal space.
“Great job respecting their personal space.”
“I love how you are keeping your hands to yourself.”
