Thankful...
A Time to Reflect and Be Grateful
...and just like that, we are two weeks away from Thanksgiving Break!
Book Fair week has come and gone! I want to take a moment to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who volunteered to help and to the specialists for running the fair on Friday while I was at my annual Librarian conference. And of course, THANK YOU for supporting the fair with your purchases!
This month the learning will continue as we focus on voting, the presidential election, Native American Heritage month, and Thanksgiving.
Wishing you all a wonderful month of learning and a restful week filled with gratitude and good food!
Let's Continue to READ!
Each Month Let's Celebrate Star Readers with Their Very Own Read Poster
This week I had the privilege of snapping pictures of our Glenn readers! I edited the pictures and created digital images to be shared with parents. I will print out 8x10 posters and get them to teachers soon to be displayed either in the hallway, your classroom or the library. We will continue to celebrate readers throughout the school year. Every month be on the lookout for your two star readers (preferably a boy and a girl). You may choose students who show great reading ability, students who have shown great progress in their reading skills, and/or students who exemplify great reading traits including the simple joy of loving to read!
Check out a few of our October Star Readers!
Teachers and ALL staff please send me a picture of yourself with a great read so that I can create a READ poster for you too!

Gale in Context: Elementary
Resource of the Month
Gale in Context: Elementary is a great resource for beginning research. Teachers and students can access this database through our Library Catalog.
Through this database students can access books, news, pictures, and videos on various topics and subject matter. Gale also recently merged with NatGeo, which means students have access to the National Geographic Kids magazines through this database as well.
This is a great resource for students to access when they are doing research or simply looking for information.
I have included a video below explaining how to access Gale in Context.

Please encourage our third graders to read and keep them pumped for the challenge. If you read to one of our third graders, please take a moment to document those minutes. Thank you everyone for your support during this competition!
