Gower 62 Strategic Planning
Do you want to play a direct role in the district's Strategic Planning effort?
The 2024-2025 school year marks the 20 year anniversary of our district motto - Children at their Best! - and our Board of Education is at the early stages of a Strategic Planning effort as we head into the next quarter of the 21st century.
If you are interested in taking part in a 'Core Stakeholder Team' made up of 35-45 Board Members, Administrators, Staff Members, Parents, Students, and Community Members that will help us to shape our district’s Mission and Vision along with our Core Beliefs, Values, and Goals, please let us know by completing this Interest Form.
Coming VERY Soon!
Please purchase your tickets by September 15th!
Our 7th and 8th graders will begin their WIN time on Tuesday, September 10th. WIN meets for 28 minutes before lunch and is a non graded either enrichment or intervention time for all students each Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Our 7th and 8th graders will meet with their Advisory Class on Mondays and Fridays.
Our 5th and 6th graders will remain with their Advisory Class until October 7th and will be focusing on Executive Functioning skills and activities.
Student Drop Off and Pick Up
All student drop off before school and pick up after school is at Door 6 (located in the back of the building). In order to keep everyone safe, cars are not allowed in the front parking lot during our bus drop off and pick up times. If your child is being dropped off late (after 8:30 AM), please drop them off at Door 1 as Door 6 is locked after 8:30 AM.
Thank you to everyone for your patience in our drop off/pick up line each day! We have staff that assist with this process each day and do all we can to ensure things move as safely and quickly as possible.
Please keep these items in mind if you drop off or pick up your child:
-Students should only exit Door 6 in the afternoon if being picked up by a parent/guardian. Parents/guardians should pull all the way to the back of the school to pick up their child. Please do not have your child exit out another door or walk along the car line to get to your car earlier. There is not a lot of space in our line and exiting the line early could cause an accident.
-Please do not pick your child up along 80th Street or Madison Street. If you are not able to wait in our pick up line, please park in our lot and walk to Door 1 to meet your child.
-In order to assist with a smooth flow of traffic, there is no left turn from our lot from 8 AM-9 AM and 3 PM-4 PM each day. We appreciate everyone honoring this as it keeps our traffic in and out of the lot moving efficiently.
Tardy to School
We believe it is crucial for all students to be on time to school each day. Learning starts right away each day! Beginning on Tuesday, September 3rd, students will be allowed three "free" tardies to school each quarter. We will alert students and parents when they receive their second and third tardy. If a student receives a fourth tardy (or more) a morning detention will be issued.
We appreciate your partnership in ensuring that all students arrive at school on time each day! Please reach out to our main office with any questions about these expectations.
Gower Middle Student Council
On Wednesday, September 11th at 7:30 AM, we will have our first Student Council meeting. This is open to all grades 5th - 8th. Join us in Mr. Hey’s room (165) and please enter at Door 6 by 7:30 AM. Our Student Council plans events throughout the school year while fundraising for good causes. Our most popular events include hot chocolate sales, open gyms, lemonade and bake sales, and spirit weeks. Student Council is an opportunity for our students to raise money for charity and get involved!
