Universal Location Expectations

As an important reminder for dismissal, if you are being picked up by a vehicle in the loop: Look for your car!!!! This will help move the line much faster!!!!
PBIS Behavior Skill
Thriver Strength: Perseverance
Perseverance includes fortitude, tenacity, resolve to endure, and an increased sense of purpose. It means committing to something to the end, even if it's hard. It includes the following traits:
- Growth Mind-Set
- Goal Setting & Resourcefulness
- Learning from Failure
- Determination and Drive
- Self-Mastery and Agency
- Self-Sufficiency
Why is Perseverance important?
Perseverance is essential for achieving success and building resilience, because it allows individuals to overcome challenges, learn from failures, and maintain a positive attitude. These skills lead to attaining our goals and personal growth.
When is a time you have persevered through a challenge? What was the outcome?
The Key "Failure Leads to Success" relates to the Thriver Trait "Perseverance"
What is Failure Leads to Success?
It means learning from our mistakes so we can try again and do better next time. Failures reveal feedback that helps us to make adjustments, learn, grow, and eventually succeed!
Examples of Failure Leads to Success:
- J.K. Rowling - the author of Harry Potter - faced rejection from twelve different publishers before her series became known on a global scale.
- Walt Disney - faced numerous failures and rejections - including being rejected by 300 banks while trying to secure funding for setting up Disney.
- Thomas Edison - failed more than 1,000 times before inventing the light bulb in 1879.
- James Dyson - inventor of the Dyson vacuum cleaner - made 5,127 prototypes of his vacuum before getting it right.
- Oprah Winfrey - was fired from her first TV job as a news anchor - She later found success as a multimedia executive, actress, writer, producer, and talk show host, and is a billonaire.
- Michael Jordan - was cut from his high school basketball team. He kept practicing and became a pro basketball player, were he missed the game-winning shot 26 times, lost 300 games, and missed more than 9,000 shots in his career. Yet he won six NBA championships, six NBA Finals MVP awards, five regular season MVP awrds withthe Chicago Bulls, and is considered one of the greatest basketball players of all time.
Was there a time that something was too hard in the beginning, but you kept trying, and eventually got it? Share your story!
