TIGER TIMES
Back to School Edition - August 2023
NOTES FROM YOUR PRINCIPALS
Titus Family,
As we wrap up the first week of school, I am thrilled to share that it has been an absolutely amazing start to the new year at Titus Elementary!
Our halls have been filled with excitement, curiosity, and a renewed sense of purpose. It has been inspiring to witness the enthusiasm of both our students and staff as we dive into a new year of learning and growth.
A heartfelt thank you to our incredible Titus Tigers—students, teachers, parents, and staff—whose dedication and positive energy have made this week so special. Your support and commitment are the heartbeats of our school community, and they truly shine through in everything we do.
Let’s keep this momentum going and continue to strive for excellence together. Here’s to a fantastic year ahead filled with opportunities, achievements, and joyful moments!
Warm regards,
Your Proud Principal,
Mrs. Helen Sclama Zaleski
Hello Titus Community,
I am filled with a tremendous amount of PRIDE being the assistant principal at Titus Elementary. One word that has stuck out to me this week has been LOVE. All the teachers and staff at this building love your children and this is evident in their preparation and care for all. Titus feels like home, and I know your child shares that same pride as me.
I wanted to highlight this young man from Ms. Brennan’s 5th grade classroom. In a remarkable display of empathy and commitment, Dylan Wholff spent part of his summer in a small town in Mexico building homes. His efforts went beyond just physical labor; he also forged meaningful connections with the community, demonstrating a deep understanding of the impact of his work. We are so proud of Dylan!
I am looking forward to an amazing school year! Let's keep this thing rolling!
Respectfully,
Proud Assistant Principal,
Mr. Dave Filson

BUS ASSIGNEMENTS AND SCHEDULES
From Transportation
2024-2025 Student Transportation Schedules are now accessible in the Parent Portal under, "Transportation."
We ask parents to be patient during the first two weeks of each new school year. Drivers need time to adjust to new stops on their runs and to the needs of their passengers. We suggest students arrive 10 minutes early until a routine is established. We are especially mindful of the kindergarten and first grade students during this time. Additionally, individual schools extend the time for loading each bus to ensure that all students are placed on the correct bus.

SAFETY UPDATE
New Safety Protocol Launched with New School Year
All schools in CBSD will be implementing the Standard Response Protocol developed by the "I Love U Guys" Foundation beginning this school year. The SRP provides a framework for handling various emergency situations in schools by emphasizing the importance of consistent, clear communication across all schools and with law enforcement. Learn more by clicking here.
TECH REMINDERS
Payment System Open for 1-to-1 Device Fee for Grades 3-12
The 1-to-1 fee payment system opened on August 14 for families of students in grades 3-12. There is no fee for families of K-2 students as devices for these grades stay at school. All CB students will either receive a device this year or continue to use the device that was issued last year. Even if your child has their own device, we ask that you participate in our program to allow for a consistent learning platform for our students. Read more about the plan, the fee amounts, and next steps here.

VOLUNTEERS
DON'T FORGET CLEARANCES ...
Titus will expect all potential volunteers to complete their paperwork for clearances prior to assuming any volunteer/chaperone role within the school. This will ensure we are in line with district and state expectations.
Who Needs Clearances: An individual who is responsible for the child's welfare or has direct contact with children. Pennsylvania law requires all persons having direct contact with school children to obtain background checks and clearances. In the best interest of the safety and security of our students, Central Bucks School District required the submission of these clearances prior to volunteering during the school year. Approved volunteers are given an identification card to be presented at the school (along with your photo ID, such as a driver's license) when volunteering. Please allow 7-10 days after you have submitted your online application for receipt of the ID card.
Additional information and steps on how to complete your clearances can be found on our district website by clicking here.
TITUS SCHOOL DAY
SCHOOL HOURS REMINDER
We are an "A" or early school, and our hours are 8:35 AM to 3:15 PM.
The morning kindergarten session hours are 8:35 AM to 11:10 AM.
The afternoon kindergarten session will run from 12:40 PM to 3:15PM.
START OF THE SCHOOL DAY ...
Please be aware that the school day begins at 8:35 AM in your child(ren)'s classroom(s). If you are a car rider in the morning, it is recommended that children are dropped off no later than 8:30 AM in order to get to their classrooms for the start of the school day at 8:35 AM. If a student arrives in their classroom beyond 8:35 AM, they are considered tardy. Parents will need to come into the building to sign their child in if they arrive after 8:35 AM.
The adults supervising the car-rider drop-off line will be on duty until 8:32 AM. Students dropped off after 8:32 AM will more than likely not be able to make it to their classrooms on time for the start of the school day at 8:35 AM. Also, for safety reasons, students arriving to school prior to 8:15 AM, need to be supervised by their parent/caregiver. We ask that all students wait with their family member in the drop off line until 8:15 AM.
WALKERS & BIKE RIDERS
Walkers coming from Oakfield, Chatfield and streets to our south will cross at the crosswalk by the police station and enter through the bus loop entrance. Walkers and bicyclists from north and west of the school will cross Barness at the end of the bicycle path at the crosswalk and will proceed on the school side of Lower Barness, entering the school through the cafeteria entrance. The sidewalk comes straight back to the cafeteria entrance so that students can remain removed from the bus loop entirely. Bicycle racks are available adjacent to that entrance.
All bicyclists must wear safety helmets. Please also encourage your child(ren) to stay on the sidewalk while walking and riding for safety reasons especially due to car and bus traffic.
At the end of the day, walkers and bicyclists will be dismissed first so that they can exit the building in advance of bus and vehicular traffic. To ensure that classroom teachers have a complete list, we ask that you advise your teacher now if your child is going to be a walker at any time during the year so that their name will be included on the list.
CAR RIDERS
DROP OFF AND PICK UP PROCEDURES
Beginning on the first day of school, September 3rd, parents are asked to enter the Titus parking lot and stay to the right, proceeding to the back of the parking lot near the playground and following the yellow lines around to the Titus staff member who will help your child(ren) in and out of the car. This procedure will be used for both pick-up and drop-off. No students will enter through the main doors for drop-off or pick-up.
For AM drop off, all students should remain in their car in the car line until a staff member is present at 8:15AM to unload students from their vehicles. In the afternoon, the back gate will be opened at 3PM for afternoon car rider pick up. Please do not line up in our parking lot prior to 3pm as this creates a backup onto 611 and in our lot.
Each family will receive a "pick-up placard" on the first day of school that can be prominently displayed in their car window for the Titus staff members to see which student(s) are being picked up in the afternoon. Your child(ren)'s last name will be placed in the middle of the placard. It is suggested that you cover your placard with contact paper or a clear plastic sleeve so that it will last the school year.
Please bear with us on the first week of school as it may take a little bit longer to adjust to the drop-off and pick-up procedures. Many Titus staff members will be present at these times during the first week to help direct you through the loop. Please take a look at the picture below for a visual of the drop-off and pick-up loop.
I thank you in advance for your cooperation and support.
