STAR Lab & Virtual Reality
Royall had an amazing opportunity this week to host Florence One's Star Lab. The Star Lab is a mobile planetarium that allows students to learn all about our solar system! Students were able to travel to space without ever leaving our building. Our students were in awe of all of the close up encounters they had with the planets and stars. In addition to Star Lab, students used our new Virtual Reality goggles to visit some pretty amazing places. We explored animal habitats and had a chance to swim with the sharks. After all of our exploring, we ended with an exciting roller coaster ride!! What a great experience for our students.
5th Grade Halloween Science Experiments
Fifth grade students had fun on Halloween by making predictions on how different liquids would dissolve candy corn.
American Heart Association Heart Walk
Royall staff participated in the American Heart Association Heart Walk last Saturday.
A Dark Day in 5K!
Royall kindergarten students learned all about how light illuminates. They had a glow stick dance party, carved a pumpkin, and learned by the flashlight during the day.
1st Grade Field Trip to the F1S Farm
1st grade students went on a fantastic field trip to The Farm at Florence One.
Froggy's Halloween Story Walk
Monday and Tuesday our Kindergarten, 1st grade, and Enhanced Learning classes participated in a story walk for the book Froggy's Halloween. A story walk is an outdoor activity that combines physical activity with reading. The students move from page to page along the story path where they were able to vote for which costume Froggy should wear, try on super hero capes and crowns, and even leap frog from one page to the next. Thanks to Mrs. Gaskins, our Media Specialist, for putting this together!

5th Grade Field Trip to Charleston
5th grade students traveled to Patriots Point to explore and learn about the USS Yorktown and its role during World War II. Students toured the aircraft carrier and put their math skills to the test during a simulation of the Doolittle Raid of World War II. Students also learned about the ecosystems of Charleston Harbor while examining some creatures up close. A wonderful time was had by all!
