Another week has flown by, and things are going smoothly. MAP testing is wrapping up with 5th-grade science this week.

We're looking forward to seeing you all at our Patriot Classroom Preview on Tuesday, August 27th, from 5-7 PM. Parents of 6th-grade advanced math students will want to attend our informational Springboard curriculum meeting.

Don't miss out on the Kona Ice and Tongue and Cheek Ice Cream available for purchase, and be sure to join the PTA and order some spirit wear while you're there!

Our beginning of the year MAP screening will be completed next week with 5th grade science on Monday and any make-up tests that are needed.

Once the district window closes on the 30th, then parents can access the results in Skyward. Those instruction will be shared next week.

Patriot Classroom Preview Night provides families with the opportunity to visit and rotate through your student's classes to gain specific information regarding how the campus and classrooms are structured to support learning for all students. See the flyer below for more information!

THE FIRST PRACTICE IS TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 3 FROM 3:30-5:00 IN THE DRAPER CAFETERIA.

Students will receive notification and the information on Student Council in their Social Studies Google Classroom this Monday, 8/26. The application deadline is September 3rd. Members of the 24-25 Student Council will be announced on Friday, September 6th.

Wylie ISD has streamlined its communication platform by using ParentSquare. It is designed to keep families informed and engaged in our schools and district. Secondary students (grades 5-12) can also use ParentSquare with their WISD email address. You can also add the WYLIEISD Connect app to your phone. This is a great way to stay up-to-date on all of the information!

In an effort to have tutorial support for students each morning and afternoon, each team has a representative available from 7:45-8:15 and 3:45-4:15. The chart below shares who is available and when. Students can go to ANY session for support; they do not have to attend with their teacher.

On Thursday afternoons, Study Squad is available from 3:30-5:00 in the cafeteria for students to complete missing or late work with the support of our professional staff.

Draper counselors will begin in class guidance lessons this week! Students will be learning that coping skills are strategies we can use to manage feelings and handle stress. Did you know it is best to learn new coping skills when everyone is calm? It is difficult for us to learn when emotions are high so be sure to teach and practice coping skills with your child when everyone is calm instead of when tensions are high. Deep breathing exercises are a go to coping skill for many people. Check out the diagram on box breathing and give it a try with your child this week!

Bark for Schools is an invaluable safety net for schools, their faculties, and their students. Their monitoring service not only detects potential issues but also helps the administration better understand their student body. For more information, visit the Bark for Schools Monitoring site.
