ELPA 21 Testing this week!
Students who receive EL services will be taking an English language proficiency test the week of February 3rd-7th. The name of this assessment is the English Language Proficiency Assessment for the 21st Century (ELPA21). It measures your student’s proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and listening to understanding English.
Each day your student will take one 20-30 minute assessment here at school. We have been practicing for the assessment for several weeks now and are anxious to have them show what they know. This assessment will give the teachers information about your student’s English acquisition progress that will be useful for helping them here at school.
Please make sure your student gets plenty of rest and is ready to try their very best on the assessment. Your student’s results will be mailed home in May. Please contact the school if you have any questions about the ELPA21.
Thank you,
Mrs.Dubas, Ms.Henderson & Mrs.Zepeda

Please Review our Drop off and Pick up Procedures
We want to ensure all students and staff are safe at drop off and pick up. In order to do this, we need you to partner with us to ensure that EVERYONE is following our school procedures. Please review the maps below and reach out to Mrs. McDonald if you have any questions.
Thank you for helping to keep our students, staff and families safe.
FREE MEALS FOR ALL STUDENTS!!!
If you come in with your student, it is not allowed for you to share their meal or take any food home. If you do, we could lose our grant for free food for everyone. Please be sure that food served to your student is only eaten by your student. Thank you.
If your student would like to bring a lunch from home, please be sure to send it with them in the morning so they have it available at their lunch time. We encourage you to pack items that do not require reheating as we will not be heating up student lunches in the microwave to allow our staff to focus on supervising and building relationships with students during lunch.
GIPS Healthy Celebrations and Snacks
Reminder: If you would like to bring a treat for your students birthday or any other special occasion, it needs to fit the district guidelines.
"Please do not bring homemade or store bought cookies or cupcakes. Snacks need to be store bought. We have children in the school who are allergic to different foods and we want to keep ALL of our kids safe! Sorry, you will be asked to take homemade items AND items that do not meet Smart Snack guidelines back home."
Check your students backpack for a note that will include any allergies at your specific grade level to be mindful of. If you have any questions, please call Mrs. McDonald in the office.
Below you will find the GIPS guidelines on Healthy Celebrations and Snacks.
