MT's purpose is to educate and empower students to become responsible citizens.
A Few Words From the Principal
Parents, please help your student do their best on their State Assessments by getting them to bed so that they can get some sleep. I know that there was a new game released this week and many have shared that they are tired from playing well into the night. Making sure that they get a good breakfast allows them to focus on school and not on being hungry. And lastly, and most important, get them here to school. The data we gain from State Assessments allows us to identify students that may need additional support and those that are ready for more challenges. Thank you for your support.

Screenager
A presentation for parents and children concerned about mentor health in the digital age.
Millions of young people experience high levels of stress, anxiety, and depression. In this context, we follow physician and filmmaker Delaney Ruston as she explores innovative solutions for enhancing adolescent well-being in the digital age.
During our time together, we will view the film, which serves as a resource to uncover essential skills for building stress resiliency within schools and our community. This film is primarily intended for children aged 10 and older but may also be suitable for younger audiences with parental guidance.

Nurse's Newsletter
To help control the spread of illness in our school please follow these illness guidelines:
- Fever-Keep student home until fever free for 24 hours without the use of medication
- Vomiting, Diarrhea, GI upset-keep home until symptom free for 24 hours without the use of medication.
When reporting your student absent due to illness please give a brief description of the illness such as sore throat, fever, vomiting, flu, strep, etc. This will help with illness tracking and reporting to the health department.
Dental Screenings
De Soto School District, in compliance with state requirements, will offer free dental screenings for Monticello Trails Middle School students on Tuesday April 8, 2025. You should have received a Skyward E-mail with the Dental Screening Form attached.
If you wish to have your child participate, please complete the form and return to school nurse by Tuesday, April 1, 2025. If your child does participate in the free dental screening, a copy of the results of the screening will be provided. Please feel free to contact your school nurse with any questions or concerns or if you need a copy of permission form. Permission form is required to participate in dental screening.
Allergies/Cold- Reminder: The nurse’s office does not stock medication for seasonal allergies or cold/multi-symptom medication. There are several over the counter allergy medications that last 24 hours available. There are also over the counter eye drops specially formulated for allergies.
End of the Year Treats
PTA will be providing students and staff with Andy’s Custard during the last week of school in May. PTA will also be providing Popsicles for those who can’t have custard due to health reasons.
The following was taken off the Andy’s Custard web site:
All of our stores offer products with milk, eggs, gluten, peanuts, soy, and/or tree nuts. Once we are alerted, we do everything in our ability to minimize the risk of cross contact, but unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that any of our treats can be completely free of allergens. We understand that this may disappoint some guests, but it is important to us that we remain transparent about what we can and cannot guarantee.
Our vanilla and chocolate custard are both gluten-free.
So the PTA can order the proper amount, please contact the school nurse by e-mail if you prefer your student to have the alternate treat of a popsicle.
