Luke Sirolli | Principal
Dear OLOM Families,
Thank you for a Wonderful Week Five!
Ash Wednesday and Lent
This week, we held our Ash Wednesday liturgy. Students were reminded to turn away from bad choices and follow Jesus' message of love and kindness.
Ash Wednesday marks the start of Lent, a special time when Catholics prepare for Easter. It is a time to pray, be kind, and help others. During Lent, we try to:
✅ Pray – Spend time talking to God.
✅ Fast – Give up something we enjoy, like a special treat, to remember what is important.
✅ Give to others – Help people in need by being kind or sharing what we have.
Even if your family does not go to church, Lent is a great time to reflect, be grateful, and show kindness.
NAPLAN – Year 3 & 5
Students in Year 3 and Year 5 will sit their NAPLAN tests over the next two weeks. These tests help teachers understand how students are learning.
Parents can support their child by:
🍏 Providing healthy meals and snacks
😴 Ensuring an early bedtime
🏃 Encouraging physical activity
😊 Keeping things calm – no stress!
There is no need for extra study. The best way to help is to keep your child happy and relaxed so they can do their best!
P & F Meeting – Monday 17 March @ 6PM
We invite all parents to our next P & F (Parents & Friends) meeting. Come along to hear about exciting school initiatives and share your thoughts. Cakes and cookies will be provided!
We are also looking for one more person to join our P & F Executive Team. If you are interested, please email luke.sirolli@cewa.edu.au.
We hope to see you there!
Code of Conduct – Speaking with Kindness
At Mercy College, we believe in treating each other with care and kindness. If you have a concern or worry, the best way to solve it is to:
✉️ Email your child’s teacher and explain the issue.
📅 Arrange a face-to-face meeting to talk calmly.
Sometimes, when we send quick emails or messages, our words may not come across as we mean them. Our doors are always open, and we would love to talk with you in person.
Together, we can build a strong, respectful community.
💙 Take care, and God bless.
Luke Sirolli
