High School Program of Studies and Course Selection for 2025-2026
The school counseling time is excited to begin the 2025-2026 course selection process in February for all current 8th graders. Course selection will occur electronically. Please review these instructions and contact your student’s counselor if you have any questions. The 2025-2026 High School Program of Studies, Career Cluster Alignment to Courses at NBC High School Guide, Department Sequence Charts, High School Program of Studies Video Series and the Four-Year Planning Tool are available on the High School Counseling Department Web Page to assist students and parents as they make course selections.
The academic directors visited eighth grade classes this week. They briefly discussed the career pathways, the course selection process, the four-year planning process, and assisted the students in beginning a preliminary schedule. The school counselors will conduct individual meetings with all 8th graders to confirm their course selections starting in March.
The timeline below indicates the dates that the PowerSchool Parent Portal will be accessible for course selection and dates for student/counselor scheduling meetings. Please feel free to reach out to your son/daughter’s school counselor with any questions or concerns.

Clinical Corner
With the last entry being about being single, I thought that it would be a good time to remind your teens/students about what a healthy relationship entails if they are going the couples route. If it is unhealthy, it can be much more stressful than being by yourself! An article by youth.gov compares characteristics of both. Relationships are works in progress, and if both partners are willing to work on things, then being aware of what a healthy relationship looks like can be helpful when making changes.
.
The characteristics of a healthy relationship that the article identifies are as follows:
Mutual respect
Trust
Honesty
Compromise
Individuality
Good communication
Anger control
Fighting fair
Problem solving
Confidence
Healthy sexual relationship
Unhealthy relationships often show signs before they escalate. Some traits of unhealthy relationships are listed below:
Control
Hostility
Dishonesty
Disrespect
Dependence
Intimidation
Physical violence
Sexual violence
