All Families MUST Complete
Returning Student Registration - 24-25 Returning Student Registration forms are now open for all students. To maintain the most up-to-date information about our students, each year we ask families to verify and update the information of all returning students. Please complete the Returning Student Registration forms in the PowerSchool Parent Portal ASAP (and if you have 10 minutes to complete this today, that would be great!). You can complete the Returning Student Registration on a computer or you can download the PowerSchool Parent app on your mobile phone. Need help logging into your Parent Portal Account? This video will walk you through the process. You can also reach out directly to your school’s administrative assistant. Thank you for your help completing these forms before school starts!

Dear Families,
I hope this letter finds you well and enjoying the wonderful weather we have had this September! We’ve had an excellent start to the school year. As we settle into our routines, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude for your ongoing support and partnership. Your involvement in our school community plays a vital role in creating a positive and enriching environment for our students.
Thank you to the many family members that joined us last Thursday for our Open House and BBQ. The PTO did an outstanding job creating a special event that brought so many community members together. THANK YOU to everyone that had a hand in making the BBQ a huge success.
The first month has been very busy and filled with many exciting activities sparking joy and curiosity for students. On the second Friday of the month we hosted our first Whole School Morning Meeting of the year and welcomed all new staff and students. Our fifth graders presented the kindergarteners with a friendship bracelet that they made to welcome them to the Flynn community. Fourth graders all went to the Community Sailing Center earlier this month and spent the day learning about the lake and got out on the lake sailing! A group of fifth graders is busy working with Ms. Asaro and Matt Limtiaco, our instructional coach, making a video to share our school agreements and values. We can’t wait to share this with you all soon! The entire first grade crew spent the day Friday walking up to the Ethan Allen Tower, an important local landmark. We believe these opportunities will foster growth, curiosity, and a love for learning. We look forward to sharing many more in the months ahead!
As we embark on this journey of learning throughout this school year together, I encourage open communication. Please feel free to reach out to me or your child’s teachers with any questions, concerns, or suggestions. We value your feedback and strive to ensure every student feels supported and inspired.
Thank you once again for your commitment to our school. Together, we can create an environment where all students thrive.
For the children, Sally, Flynn principal
Help Local Families
Dear Flynn Family,
We’re reaching out to you as Flynn is collecting tents, blankets, sleeping bags, flashlights and coolers for families in need this winter. We will be providing these resources to CVOEO for families. If you have any of these gently used items please consider donating them.
The reason we’re collecting these supplies is our houseless neighbors and families will no longer be able to access hotel vouchers as they look for stable housing. This means during the winter months children and families will be living in cars, camping and staying with friends or families.
Please drop off items to Karen Priebe at the front desk at Flynn any time next week.
We will be collecting items from Monday, September 30th through Friday October 4th.
With Gratitude,
Jill and Emily
Do You Need a Winter Coat?
Winter is quickly approaching and kiddos are growing even faster! If your family is in need of winter clothing (i.e. Jackets, boots, gloves/mittens, hats, etc) please reach out to our counselors (Emily Russen - grades 3-5 and Jill Everett - grades K-2) or Karen Priebe at the front desk. **A local non-profit is donating jackets and needs specific sizes by October 28th! We will also have a rack/bins of donated winter clothing in the front entrance of the school coming soon. Stay tuned!
Flynn Food Shelf
In case you missed it! The Flynn Food Shelf has relocated to a locked cabinet in the front entrance to keep sticky little student fingers away! The Food Shelf will have its doors open on Friday's from 8:00am-3:00pm. Swing by to grab what you need or leave what you can! If you need access to the Food Shelf outside of the 8:00am-3:00pm hours on Friday's, please reach out to Karen Priebe or Emily Russen for access! They would be more than happy to let you browse!
Garden News
Hi Flynn Community,
Over the past few weeks, students have been working with Ms. Jen, the Food Science Coordinator, getting their hands in the soil, taste-testing, harvesting, and enjoying all the beauty and nourishment the Flynn School Gardens provide. Here are some of the highlights of what they've been up to:
- Taste-testing herbal spritzers with simple syrups infused with garden grown basil, lemon balm, and nasturtium.
- A 2nd Grade Herbal Tea Party with Ms. Monahan and Ms. Rourke's class as a Firefly Celebration.
- Exploring the garden to find flowers and plants that match paint chip colors.
- Harvesting cucamelons, cherry tomatoes, peppers, and carrots to be featured on the fruit and veggie bar during school lunch.
- Harvesting gorgeous bouquets of flowers and herbs to decorate for the Flynn Open House and BBQ.
- Digging for potatoes and harvesting winter squash!
- Trying out a new garden art project that involves hammering flower petals onto watercolor paper to make garden bookmarks.
- Thanking our pollinator friends for all they do for our garden!
There's lots more still to come before the close of the garden season - please stay tuned for more updates!

ROBIN HOOD & MAID MARIAN Fall Play (Grades 3-5)
Congratulations to all the 4th and 5th graders who were cast in the play this past week! Rehearsals (during the school day) have started for 4th and 5th grade Speaking Parts and rehearsals for the 3rd Grade Chorus will start up next week.
With a cast of almost 50 students (not counting the 25 members of the 3rd grade chorus), we are going to need some help with COSTUMES. If you are able to help with costumes -- even just a little bit! -- please reach out to admin@jjflynnpto.org.
