Elkhorn Welcome Back!

• Welcome to our new students and families and welcome back to our returning students and families! I am excited to start this new year with all of you. Elkhorn is a truly amazing place and I am looking forward to meeting all of our new students and their families and I am excited to see all of you that I have already gotten to know! We are still a little over a week from starting school. All 7th graders start on Monday, July 29 for 7th grade orientation (more information below). All other students begin on Tuesday, July 30. Middle School classes begin at 8:00am and 4th-6th graders begin at 8:12am. Everyone dismisses at 2:23pm.The campus gates open at 7:30am and breakfast begins at 7:40am. More information on Pickup and Dropoff will be sent in next Sunday's Smore. Please remember that we follow the Elementary Calendar, so ALL students observe the extra minimum days that TK-6 campuses have (see calendar below). I would like to welcome our new teachers, Jennifer O'Neill (5th grade) and Samantha McCoy (6th grade). They both come to us with significant experience in education. Mrs. O'Neill spent the last several years as an administrator in neighboring districts and also has a wealth of classroom experience as both a teacher and instructional coach. Mrs. McCoy is a long time Lodi Unified teacher who developed an amazing STEM program at Christa McAuliffe Middle School and was ready to return to teaching 6th graders. We also have a brand new counselor, Ouida McCullough, who is starting her counseling career split between us and Davis Elementary. Ms. Ouida will be on campus on Mondays and Fridays, and also Tuesdays if we have a Monday holiday. We are excited to have these amazing professionals join us! It is going to be another great year! And remember, EVERY DAY IS A GREAT DAY, TO BE A WILDCAT, ROAR!

• Orientation is from 8:00am-12:12pm.
• This is a required school day for 7th graders
• Please do not send students with backpacks, Chromebooks, or other materials.
• Students will do various teambuilding activities and a campus tour with Mrs. Nino and 8th grade mentors.
• The cafeteria will serve breakfast starting at 7:40am and lunch will be served. Students may bring a sack lunch from home if they so choose.
• Paper copies of class schedules will be distributed.

• 7th graders MUST have their TDAP Immunizations turned in to the office before they can come to school (including orientation). The district will be sending out info on a clinic soon. You can either drop this off to the office or email a copy to our secretary, Ms. Klaire, at kgreen@lodiusd.net.

We are excited to announce that this year, families will be able to verify their child's elementary school teacher and secondary school class schedule through our online data confirmation process. Starting on July 19, 2024, at 10:00 AM, parents who have completed the online data confirmation will be able to access this information. We encourage all parents to complete the online data confirmation process by following the instructions in the flyer below.

• Adult Crossing Guard: Monday-Friday, 2:10pm-2:40pm
• Night Custodian: 2:30pm-4:30pm
