SPRING VACATION IS APRIL 21 - APRIL 25
ENJOY TIME WITH FAMILY & FRIENDS!
HISTORY IN MOTION: 7th GRADE OLYMPICS
Seventh grade historians stepped into the sandals of ancient Greek athletes during our Social Studies Class Olympics! This fun and educational event was designed to deepen students’ understanding of Ancient Greek achievements particularly their contributions to sports and competition. The competition was fierce as Mrs. Evans-Green’s classes faced off against Mrs. Lewis’s classes in a legendary showdown worthy of Mount Olympus!
Each class competed in five Olympic-inspired events:
- Torch Lighting Relay Race
- Trivia
- Hoops
- Javelin Throw
- Discus Throw
- Long Jump
Students brought their A-game, showing off not only their athletic skills but also their knowledge of Ancient Greece. The energy was high, the teamwork was strong, and the friendly competition helped bring history to life.
SMHS STUDENTS TRAVEL TO FINLAND
Special thanks to science teachers, Ms. RENEE FUDALA and Ms. ERIN MELL-TAYLOR for accompanying our students safely to and from Finland.
EXPLORING CAPE COD’S BIODIVERSITY
Dr. HAMBROOK INSPIRES STUDENTS TO TAKE ACTION
On April 3, 2025, Dr. JULIE HAMBROOK, an environmental scientist who works for the Association to Preserve Cape Cod (APCC), visited BIOLOGY classes to share her insights regarding biodiversity of Cape Cod. Students gained an appreciation for our region’s local species and the ecological threats that they face. Students will now apply this knowledge to develop an “action plan” to protect a particular organism. This project is another demonstration of SMHS's commitment to creating learning experiences that are authentic and relevant for students.
