Kia ora Whanau and Caregivers

This week we welcomed new members of our school community on Monday at our Powhiri, in beautiful sunshine. Mr Michael Bucksmith - Associate Principal, Kirsteen Makiri - Support Staff, Deepali Rana, trainee from Educare Taranaki to Panitahi P, along with all new students and whanau who joined us since W3 T2.

At our Powhiri, our young leaders shone in their various roles, wither on the pae pae with whaikorero, whāikaranga, waiata and manaakitanga.

Brayden Neilson - For leading by example in the way that you put 100% effort in to your learning tasks and for your fabulous sense of humour.

to Tayla Zame, Max Morgan, Damon Cunniffe, Kahnya Hemi, Ivan-Ray O'Carroll-Makiri, Steffanie Neil, Caoimhe Leslie-Ellis, Jaxopn Nagel, Nirvana Cunniffe, Hunter Cunniffe and Jasmine Dixon who are celebrating their birthday's this week.

This week we welcome Lukah Nicholas, Mikah Nicholas-Nunez and Kiarah Peri to Inglewood Primary School.

Today some of our Moa iti tamariki shared their beautiful thoughts and ideas which were illustrated and written down. It was absolutely delightful to see and hear thir stories. Thank you Felix, Kiarah, Ella and Mikah.

Congratulations to the student who are attending the Taranaki Lead Conference tomorrow at City West Church. Many, many thanks to Tracy Turner and Debbie Carter for all the work behind the scenes with organising this event. IPS are responsible for the Pizza Fundraising opportunity and all monies raised will go toward paying for our Special Needs Bike we have purchased. We are very proud to thave the Inglewood High School Y10 student hosts for this event. Last year the students did such a magnificent job, the request for Ing High Y10s for this year was made. There are a total of 675 students and adults from Taranaki Schools attending the conference.

Many thanks to the 71% of parents/ caregivers who were able to schedule a Student Led Conference this week. The students work hard to prepare and share their learning with you in this forum. The Staff appreciate you taking the time to continue to work in partnership to celebrate, and set goals for further success for the remainder of the year. Mr Michael BuckSmith really enjoyed meeting parents along with the students as he prepares to teach Puku Haupapa B for the remainder of the year.

If you missed the opportunity of booking a time, please feel free to contact the office and make a time to meet with your child's teacher anytime. We are very keen to have 100% partnership and celebration with students.

We have our BoT hui on Wednesday 7 August in the Staffroom, all welcome. We will be creating a survey to send out to whanau and caregivers in week 4, so please keep an eye out. We are very interested in our school whanau / caregivers views with regard to your thoughts, ideas to improve and strengthen our kura / school moving forward.

It is quite nice to have a couple of cold crisp evenings to assist with eliminating winter bugs for human, animal and plant life. We are looking forward to potting up seedlings in readiness to have plants in our gardens.

We have had suggestions fro our staff that we could build a gate stall to assist with selling the produce when ready at the gate. If you would love to come and help staff and students with this project, pop into our kura and touch base with one of our fabulous support staff team and let's make this happen.

We need more clear 1.25 litre and 2.25 litre bottles. If you have an interest in assisting with environmental projects please contact Mrs Ritchie who would love some support. We have a lot of projects and the Enviro Crew work most Tuesday and Thursday lunchtimes on projects.

Congratulations to all senior students who attended the Inglewood High School Ball on Saturday evening. We are always interested to see how our ex students shine. The photos were stunning.

Today we were hosts to five staff from Inglewood High, who met with parents and Y8 Students who are attending Inglewood High in 2020. Thank you all whom attended, this part of the transition process is very valuable. Thank you to all the behind scenes organisation from our staff.

Competition against Norfolk School is happening on Monday 5 August at 1030 am in the School Library. Good luck to our competitors.

School Absence: If your child is absent from school for any reason, please leave a message on the school answer phone or use the School App. Please state name and reason why the child is away. Thank you.

Scholastic Bookclub: Orders for Issue 5 are due back to the school office by Friday 2nd August.

Thank you to all those that park in the appropriate places and walk their students across the Kea Crossing. Look out, we will be catching those ‘being good’ on random days. WE LOOK FORWARD TO CATCHING YOU.

We can have up to 9 buses call through our bus stop and school zone with 4-5 stopping to drop off students.

Do not drop your students off in this space. Feel free to drive around the block or drop them off in Hinau Street.

We pass on vehicle details to the Police of those who put our students’ safety at risk. Don’t be one of them! (Parking/stopping in a bus stop (even if you are sitting in the car and only stop for a moment) is a ticketable offence of $60).

On Thursday 8 August, the School Council are running a ‘Crazy Day’ for KidsCan. Students can dress up however they like e.g. fairy, superman, sunday best, minion, opposite gender, pirate etc. The money raised will be spent on essentials like food, shoes, raincoats and healthcare products for kids who need them.
