Mr. Smith's Scoop π¦
Happy Friday!
It was wonderful seeing so many parents/guardians on campus for conferences this week. Thank you to all our families who joined in a conference in-person, via phone, or virtually. When school and home work together students grow exponentially!
Next Tuesday (10/29) is our Family Financial Literacy Night. There will be free medical and dental screenings available from 4-5 PM. A free dinner will be provided from 5:00-5:30 and parents and students will engage in a variety of fun and informative activities from 5:30 - 7:00. Space is limited, and registration is strongly recommended. You can register using the QR-code in the flyer information below.
Continuing our focus on on-time daily attendance we will be launching a class competition. On any day that a class has all students in attendance & on-time the class will earn a βchip.β Once the class receives a certain number of chips, the class will earn a special treat. Please help your son/daughter in arriving at school on-time every day.
Have a great weekend.

Fresh News from the Cafeteria!
π½ Farm to School π₯
Weβre excited to announce that next week weβll be celebrating Farm to School Week! This special event gives students a chance to experience the fresh flavors of locally grown produce and dairy. Our students will get to taste delicious treats made with local dairy and sample seasonal vegetables, including Brussels sprouts, straight from nearby farms.
Farm to School Week is an excellent opportunity for students to learn about where their food comes from and the importance of supporting our local farmers. We canβt wait for our students to enjoy these tasty, healthy bites while learning more about farm-fresh food.
π Got a Birthday Coming Up? Purchase a Birthday Box! π
Our cafeteria can provide birthday boxes at a very low cost. This reduces the impact on classroom learning time (every minute counts), reduces the likelihood of ants in classrooms and creates a fun celebration during lunch times. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1tkA7cxvKb4gCb7RDTtE2mxsgSZzxXMui/view?usp=sharing

What's Happening Around Madison?
The Madison Education Foundation needs YOU as a School Liaison!
The Madison Education Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) organization committed to enriching the quality of education of every child who attends Madison Public Schools by providing innovative, hands-on programs in music and the arts.
The Foundation encourages teachers to expand their lesson plans and integrate the arts into their classroom via any artistic medium by annually awarding over $15,000 to Madison School District teachers through the Arts in Education Teacher Grants. The Foundation also provides student performances taught by professionals in the beautiful Madison Center for the Arts where the students learn about set design, acting, and dance.
Another benefit is the Art Masterpiece classroom program which includes lessons of historic, geographic, and cultural relevance, artistic value, unique aspects, art appreciation and a class art project for each artist. Finally, the Foundation also provides no cost field trips to the Music Instrument Museum available to all Madison District students.
As a school liaison you will be asked to attend one, one hour board meeting a month where you will have voting rights which will directly impact the students at your childβs school.
If you are interested, please reach out to mdodd@madisoned.org.
Uniforms!
As a reminder, we are a uniform school. Our uniforms consist of a navy blue, white or light blue polo shirt and navy or khaki bottoms. Cubs "spirit" wear is an acceptable alternative to the uniform shirt.
We are in need of student uniforms! If your kids have outgrown any of their uniforms from first semester and they are still in good used condition, please consider donating to us! You can leave them in the front office. Thank you!
