Alumni Spotlight: Maia Payne
The following was posted on Indiana University's Facebook page about LFO alum Maia Payne:
Congratulations to Maia Payne, MPA'24! We're thrilled to celebrate Maia and the experiences that have defined her time at O'Neill. Here what Maia shared about her journey:
"Graduating with two master's degrees from O'Neill is an accomplishment I'm incredibly proud of, especially as a first-generation college student. This milestone represents years of hard work and perseverance, and I couldn't be prouder to have reached it. One of my favorite memories was working as a Graduate Fellow at the Lotus Education and Arts Foundation, where I helped organize the Lotus in the Park event. Seeing how the arts bring people together was very rewarding. I'm also grateful for mentors like Karen Gahl-Mills, Megan Starnes, and Julia Driscoll, whose guidance and encouragement made a lasting impact. After graduation, I'm excited to create spaces that empower artists and strengthen communities."
Communities in Schools (CIS) at LFO
The Communities in Schools (CIS) program at LFO closed out the year with engaging group activities for our students.
- CIS hosted our From Here to Career students in a fun, interactive activity.
- They also taught valuable life skills by exploring the topic of taxes with another student group.
We are so grateful for the work and dedication of our CIS site coordinators who continuously support the growth and success of our students.
Follow Communities In Schools of Catoosa County on Facebook to stay updated on programs, success stories, and ways you can support their incredible efforts.
Student Service
In December, 21 of our amazing students gave their time and energy to serve at the Chattanooga Area Food Bank. They packed food boxes, cleaned, and labeled items that will be distributed to those in the area. These incredible students are members of LFO's Beta Club, National Honor Society, and/or Leadership Class - all shining examples of leadership and service in action.
We are so proud of these students dedication to helping others and making a difference.

Catoosa County Public Schools wants our community to know that the safety of our students is our top priority. To maintain a safe environment, we encourage all students to follow the important guideline: "If you see or hear something, say something."
Saying something can make a big difference! You can talk to a trusted adult, teacher, school counselor, or principal. Additionally, if you need to reach out, you can start a text by sending "HELLO" to 741-741. Remember, your safety matters, and together, we can help keep our schools safe and secure.
