EJMS Jaguar Weekly Feb. 3 - 7

This week is school counselor appreciation week - we hope that you will take a moment and share your appreciation for all that our counselors do to help support our students:

KCSS Safety Audit

Thank you to everyone for participating in last week's safety audit by completing surveys and interviews. The team will submit a full report available to us in a few weeks, but had many positive things to say about how many students identified trusted adults in their life both at school and home, strong counseling department and SRO, great support from Youth Services Center, great staff morale and school climate, very clean building, and great communication with between home and school. There are some areas with dismissal we will continue to address once we get recommendations so be on the lookout for some small changes in the future. Until then see the Reminders about Arrival and Dismissal:

• Morning Drop Off: Please use the car line for morning drop off (in order to move so many cars through the carline it is imperative that everyone uses this system). All students should exit from the car as soon as it gets to the sidewalk (see image below).

• Dismissal:

• Due to safety concerns we will not allow students to cross into the parking lot until all cars have moved through the car line (approximately 4:15). If you still choose to pick your child up from the parking lot please know that they will not be released until all traffic is clear from the car line pickup area. If you have an emergency or unusual circumstance you will need to get out of the car and walk to the front of the school to escort your child to the car.

• Nicholasville PD has asked us to remind everyone to avoid using Orchard so we do not create unnecessary traffic.

• Students will not be allowed to walk across the bus access road into Red Oak parking lot unless they are a child of a Red Oak staff member and have a pass from Thomasina.

Midterms for Third Nine Weeks

The third Nine Weeks Midterm ended on Friday, January 31st. Grade reports will be available through Parent Portal on Friday, February 7th.

Congratulations to our students of the month - these students were chosen for showing great responsibility at EJMS and representing EJMS in a variety of ways.

Thanks to those parents who were able to help meet and plan for upcoming engagement events. We're excited to share that there will be an evening/family component to our Culture Fair this year. It will be a chance for students to share with our families what they created and shared with students during the day about their culture plus several additional components. More information to come, but for now, mark your calendars and plan to join us on the evening of March 20.
