Starting Monday, March 6th, I will be placing the Lost and Found outside of the gymnasium doors until Wednesday night. During your travels around town, please stop by and take a look. We will hold all the items until Monday, March 13th and then they will be donated.

The Smartest Kid in the Universe by Chris Grabenstein

It has been a busy week of reading here at LAF. We are so excited to hear that the students are loving this story. So much so that some students could not stop reading and have already finished the book!!!

Please read to page 156 if you are reading as a family. If you are interested in purchasing more of Chris Grabenstein's books, please fill out and return the form that is linked below by March 6th.

We have already started to receive some sponsorships and donations for our Read A Thon. Thank you. Since starting the Read A Thon 6 years ago, we have worked with local and international organizations to give back part of the money raised. This year, we are donating a portion of the funds raised to support those affected by the earthquake in Turkey through an organization called Kizilay. Kizilay is Turkey's Red Cross and was suggested to us by Selda Agar, LAF paraprofessional, after our 4th graders showed interest in supporting Turkey.

This ensures that your information and your child's information are protected. See below for our weekly reading goals and weekly school-wide prizes.

As you may already know NJ State requires 2 immunizations for 6th Grade. One is the Tdap booster and the 2nd is the meningitis vaccine. The Tdap vaccine is required upon entrance into 6th grade while the meningitis vaccine is required at age 11. If your student has received these vaccines already please feel free to send in the paperwork to me at LAF so you will be ready for the start of school in September.
