MASC Cruise Lines: October Letter
October 2024
Welcome Back To The Monthly MASC Newsletter!
A Message From Your State President
Presidents Message
I hope you are all doing well and now well off on your voyage this year! I am pleased to introduce you to our second newsletter of the year and give you a little recap on some things to keep in mind this month. Two weeks ago we held the 17th annual Massachusetts Association of Student Councils President’s Dinner. There, the board and I were able to meet each of YOUR student council presidents and allow you all to get a taste for what is in store this year! We enjoyed good food, heard some wonderful keynote addresses from our board members, and participated in some setting sail festivities.
As we enter out of that “setting sail phase” I would like to introduce our symbol for the month. The symbol for October is the Life Jacket. October being the first month at sea can be, as we all know, a little bit choppy. Whether it’s personal issues, new year anxieties, or even just having trouble getting back into the swing of things the board and I certainly know what you may be going through. Thus, it is very important to us to think of the life jacket this month. I know at times we all feel alone, yet it is important to understand that there are people around us who care and want to help. Although the waters may get a bit choppy, we want you to know that there will always be a life jacket at the ready to scoop you out! Thus as we prevail through the tough seas and continue the next phase of our journey, we want to supply you with the knowledge and resources to have that support system or help someone else find that support system.
Furthermore, in just a few weeks we will have our annual MASC officershop event hosted at Worcester Tech High School. We are absolutely thrilled to have you all there and cannot wait for the workshops, energizers, and learning that will ensue. I wish you all the best this month, and please remember I am always available by email or DM if you have any questions, thoughts, or concerns! You’ve got this MASC, let’s brave the rough seas together!
All the best,
Jack Rubin
MASC President
Our Symbol of the Month: Life Jacket
As we move into the month of October, we all begin establishing routine. Everyone has a different routine, as some of us must prepare for the upcoming test, quiz, or exam- while others must prepare for events outside of school such as sports, plays, and of course, student council. While things start to pile up and times become increasingly difficult, remember who YOU are. As a student council member, YOU are a leader, and YOU are the life jacket that has the ability to keep everyone afloat and above the water. So, as October becomes busier and busier, hang in there, and remember that as leaders, we are all equipped with a life jacket, so don't be afraid to hang onto it when you need help!
