From Your Principals
Ms. Benningfield, Lower Campus
Dear families,
I hope you all had a wonderful fall break! It’s always great to take time to rest and reconnect with our families and friends. As we move into this second nine weeks of school, our conversations will be centered around having a growth mindset. I encourage you to have conversations about growth with our young bison. Oftentimes, students will compare themselves to their peers which can create stress and anxiety, when they see that they learn at different rates. It’s important that every student remember that we are unique with different talents and skills that we acquire at different speeds. As long as we are putting forth effort, then we can grow and achieve.
Ms. Munves, Upper Campus
I hope that everyone enjoyed a restful Fall Break! Last week, we had a wonderful Coffee with the Principals meeting. Ms. Doss and Dr. V shared valuable information on the topic of bullying. At school, we teach students to distinguish between "mean moments, conflict, and bullying." We invite you to use this same language at home. As one avenue to prevent bullying, we teach students how to manage and appropriately address conflict. Please encourage your child to ask for help from our counselors or classroom teachers if they need support addressing a conflict. As a family, I encourage you to take an active role in your child's online presence and involvement on social media platforms. Students have access to a plethora of information, opinions, videos, and pictures. Create space to discuss what your child is observing, experiencing, and engaging with online. In the coming weeks, we'll provide additional programming for students regarding internet safety. As always, please reach out to the campus if you need a partner in planning for these conversations.
