Welcome!

Welcome to the Chisholm Ridge Library! I am so excited for your students to come in and start checking out books. This is my 1st year as a school librarian and I am so excited to be here! I have loved getting to meet the students. We are going to have a great time in the library this year!

Book Care

Please talk to your students about book care at home. Students will be bringing home a Library Book the week starting this week. You can decide the safest place to leave their library books while they are reading them at home and the book care rules to follow.

Library Policies

In order to promote responsibility and enhance literary skills, all students will be able to check out books from the school library. The number of books checked out and loan period varies by grade.

PreK-

Check out one book from a designated “kinder case” which contains books that the librarian selects. Their library books stay in the classroom and do not go home.
Visit the library periodically to check out books.

Kindergarten-

Check out one book from a designated “kinder case” which contains books that the librarian selects. In the spring students are taught how to choose books from the Everybody section.
Visit the library every 6 school days for storytime, makespace lessons, and check out

1st grade-

Checks out one book at the beginning of the year. The book has to be from the Everybody section and a good fit for them. When students come back from Winter break they will be allowed to check out 2 books as long as they have demonstrated safe book care. One book will need to be a good fit and the other can be their choice.
Visit the library every 6 school days for storytime, makerspace lessons, and check out
