From Mr. Sachtleben's Desk...
As we complete our 4th full week of school, the students are demonstrating a comfort level with their schedule, routine and our common commitments. This is also when we begin to see students make choices which require us to enforce the code of conduct. Most of the unwanted behavior we are observing is simply students not being nice to each other. All of them come here for the same purpose and each student deserves a safe and secure school during their school day. We reiterate with the students a consistent message of being nice and when you don't have something nice to say, it is better to not say anything at all. Thank you parents for helping us with these efforts!
Our Common Commitments (see classroom example below) are done in order to provide clarity and consistency among ALL classrooms. This includes helping our students understand Voice Volume in various areas of the building. I encourage our parents to discuss this with their student (or to at least ask about them). Overall, the students are picking up on what we are teaching them with regards to positive behavior. We believe this will only grow stronger as we work through the school year.
Have a great weekend!
Matt

Note about Media Center Opt Outs
As part of the annual back to school update, parents were asked if they would like to receive an email notification of their student’s book checkout. If you opted in to receiving email notifications for your student’s book checkout, the ability for him/her to independently check out a book will not be an option. A media specialist or library aide will need to check out the books allowing them to send an email receipt.
If you no longer wish to receive these notifications, please complete this form. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact our school media specialist or building administrator.
